Chapter 47

1/3

On the second floor of the Lambert residence, the Lambert family’s doctor was drenched in sweat. He exclaimed, “Oh, no! Mr. Lambert Senior’s heart rate is still dropping!”

His hands shook as he held onto the defibrillator.

“Move,” Genevieve commanded as she pushed past the helpless housekeepers and stepped

forward.

Her gaze landed on Raymond’s face. Her slim fingers felt his wrist for his pulse, and she immediately frowned.

“I need needles,” she said simply.

Wilson froze before he finally returned to his senses. He shakily took a wooden box out of the

first aid kit.

Genevieve took it and opened it. A row of needles of various lengths gleamed coldly under the

lights.

Without hesitation, she took out the needles and sanitized them.

The family doctor tried to stop her. “Mrs. Lambert, this is much too risky-”

Genevieve looked at him and curtly said, “Keep wasting more time if you want him to die.”

The doctor fell silent immediately.

A moment later, the needles pierced through Raymond’s skin.

A handful of needles were precisely stuck into the main pulse points around his heart. The noisy ECG monitor gradually started fading into silence.

Everyone stared in shock.

Nobody knew that Genevieve, who had suffered silently in the Lambert family for three years, had such impressive medical abilities.

After a moment, Raymond’s eyelids fluttered before opening slowly.

When he saw Genevieve, his bony hands clutched onto her tightly. “Genevieve, listen to me. Lambert… Lambert Group can’t be left in Zachary’s hands. You… You have to s–stop him…”

His breaths rattled loudly in his throat. He opened his mouth as if he wanted to say something, but he couldn’t catch his breath and passed out once more.

“Mr. Lambert Senior!” Wilson called out frantically.

Genevieve hurriedly used another needle to stabilize his condition. However, she had confirmed one thing.

Raymond was so angry with Zachary that he was basically on his last breath.

What exactly had Zachary done this time?

Genevieve had barely stood when she heard rushed footsteps in the corridor.

Zachary rushed in. His suit jacket was crumpled and tucked in the crook of his elbow.

He hurried to the side of the bed. When he saw Raymond breathing evenly, his tense expression relaxed immediately.

Right after that, he looked at Genevieve, who was standing next to the bed. Her expression looked even colder under the lights.

He looked at her and all of a sudden, he gulped nervously.

How many more talents did Genevieve have that he didn’t know about?

“What did you say to Grandpa?” Genevieve asked.

Zachary stumbled back instinctively. “What are you trying to say? Are you saying that I caused Grandpa’s condition? I’m his grandson!”

He denied everything, but for a moment, his gaze darted about frantically.

“Look out for yourself,” Genevieve warned before she looked away and turned to walk out.

“Stay right there!”

Zachary reached out and grabbed her wrist in a panic.

Her wrist was slim and delicate. The dizzying scent radiating softly from her made him lose

focus for a moment.

“Genevieve, don’t leave.”

The hatred in Genevieve’s gaze was almost palpable. “Let me go!”

“No!” Zachary held onto her even tighter. “Let’s… Let’s not get divorced for now, okay?”

He looked at her, lowering his voice pitifully.

Genevieve scoffed coldly. “Zachary, what’s the meaning of this performance? Is it really worth

it?”

“This isn’t a performance!” Zachary shouted. “Genevieve, Grandpa saved your life. You can’t stand by and watch him die!”

Genevieve finally stopped struggling. It was the soft spot the Lambert family had always used against her.

When Zachary noticed that she was softening, he kept going. “I know I’m an asshole, and I know I really messed up, but Grandpa can’t suffer any more shocks.”

His voice caught in his throat for a moment. “Just think of it as pitying him, okay? Once he’s better, I’ll get a divorce from you. I’ve already signed the agreement, so what are you worried about? It’s just a piece of paper, right?”
