Tristan retorted, “Shouldn’t you know whether I’m weak or not-”
Almost without thinking, Genevieve shot out a hand and covered his mouth.
“Shut up!” she snapped, flustered and furious, the tips of her ears burning red in an instant.
Was he out of his mind? How could he say something like that there?
She had moved too fast and hadn’t held back. Before she could stop herself, she leaned closer, closing the last bit of space between them. Her face was nearly pressed to his, her warm palm tight against his cool lips.
Time seemed to stretch. Genevieve could clearly smell the crisp cedar on him, the scent curling around her until there was no way to escape it.
Only after a long beat did she snap back to herself. She yanked her hand away and turned her face aside, embarrassed and
rattled.
Tristan didn’t say another word. He only watched the flush creep along her ear, his gaze deepening, the corner of his mouth lifting without him even realizing it.
He didn’t tease her again. He took the bundle of herbs from her hand and turned toward the door. “Come on. Grandpa’s probably getting impatient.”
Genevieve steadied herself and followed, but her heart refused to slow down, no matter how hard she tried.
What was wrong with her?
Every time she ran into Tristan, nothing good ever happened.
The car started up again and headed for the Lambert residence.

Regina posted, “This industry is murky, and I’ve heard a certain top perfumer will do anything to climb higher. She leans on her husband’s family for connections, yet behind the scenes, she’s already lining up someone new.
“A fragrance can be lovely, but it can’t hide a rotten character. I hope everyone keeps their eyes open and doesn’t get fooled by a glossy facade.”
