Hannah picked up the call almost instantly, her voice sharp with panic. “Finally! Where were you last night? You didn’t answer my calls or reply to any of my messages. I thought you’d been abducted and dumped somewhere! If you still didn’t show up by noon, I was going to pull people together and search the entire city!”
A ridiculous image flashed through Genevieve’s mind at once. She pictured a group of men in black bursting into the room, freezing at the sight of her and Tristan in bed, then shouting in perfect unison, “Ms. Whitfield!”
Genevieve shuddered hard.
“I’m fine. Something happened,” she said quickly, cutting off the thought before it could go any further.
“As long as you’re fine.” Hannah let out a sigh of relief. “But be careful. Zachary’s lost it. He showed up at the studio this morning with a group, demanding to see you. He was out of control.”
“Did he get inside?” Genevieve’s eyes turned cold.
“Of course not. I had Kay bring people to block him. He didn’t dare force his way in,” Hannah said, snorting. Then, her tone tightened again. “But he left a message. He said that if you don’t show up today, he’ll stop playing nice.”
Stop playing nice? What exactly did Zachary think he could do?
Everything he had was because of Raymond’s support. People respected him only for the Lambert name. Without it, he was nobody.
Even so, she knew that letting this drag on would only create more trouble.
Genevieve’s gaze hardened as she made her decision. Leaning forward, she told the driver, “Change the route. Take me to Skyline Villa.”
That was the “home” she shared with Zachary.
There were things she had to settle once and for all.
The taxi stopped at the entrance of the villa community. Genevieve paid and got out.
She hadn’t even reached the door when shouting burst out from within.
“Are you out of your mind? If Genevieve finds out about this, have you considered what happens next? Your grandpa already favors her. He protects her like the apple of his eye!”
Genevieve stopped short. It seemed that this was related to her, and they didn’t want her to know.
That made it even more interesting.
The more leverage she had on Zachary, the more she could carve off him when the divorce was finalized.
Genevieve didn’t hesitate anymore. She lifted her hand and shoved the door fully open.
Three people in the living room turned toward the entrance at the same time.
Genevieve scanned the room. When her eyes landed on the person sitting at the edge of the couch, everything clicked.
Regina sat there, her clothes wrinkled, her cheeks still faintly flushed.
Then there was Zachary. The red marks along his neck and collarbone were impossible to miss-loud, unmistakable proof of just how intense the night before had been.
“Well, look at that. Everyone’s here,” Genevieve said. She laughed softly as she walked in on her heels, calm and unhurried.
The panic on their faces lasted only a heartbeat.

Zachary’s gaze drifted from her striking face to the neckline of her brand-new dress. Just beneath the collar, he caught sight of a faint red mark.
He frowned and stepped up to her, then grabbed her collar hard. “Where were you last night? Genevieve, were you out fooling around with some random guy? What the hell is that on you?” he demanded, barely holding back his fury.
Genevieve didn’t flinch. She simply raised her hand and peeled his fingers off one by one, her disgust completely undisguised.
Once she shoved his hand away, she said lightly, “It’s a mosquito bite. What, you’ve never seen one?”
Zachary was shaking with anger, ready to spit back. But Sylvia cut him off with a shout. “Enough!”
Sylvia’s face was livid with rage. She had just caught proof of Zachary messing around with Regina. She had no standing left to accuse Genevieve of anything.
She took a deep breath and forced the fury down. “Alright. Both of you are coming back to the Lambert residence with me right now. Your grandpa has something to announce.”
