Chapter 12
Hannah’s eyes lit up the moment she saw Genevieve.
She walked straight over, looped her arm through Genevieve’s, and leaned in close like they were inseparable. “Gen, you’re finally here. That whole place reeks. It’s giving me a headache.”
As she spoke, she flicked a pointed glance in Regina’s direction.
Zachary looked at the two women, then connected it to the harsh line that Hannah had just delivered. He immediately grasped the situation.
Genevieve was the one behind it. She had put Hannah up to humiliating Regina on purpose.
He stepped in front of Regina like he was shielding her and snapped at Genevieve, “Genevieve, if you want my attention, there are limits. You dragged an outsider in to bully Regina. Do you have any shame at all?”
He was convinced that everything Genevieve had done lately was just a ploy for his attention.
Genevieve looked at him with pure disdain. “Want your attention? Zachary, you think far too highly of yourself. I don’t have time for your nonsense anymore. Let’s get a divorce.”
She actually dared to mention divorce?
Zachary stared at her like she’d lost her mind. “Are you insane?”
After all the plotting she’d done to marry him, she actually wanted a divorce?
Beside him, Regina tugged lightly at his sleeve and spoke in a soft voice. “Genevieve, please don’t be angry. This is my fault. Zach and I are really just like siblings. And as a genius perfumer, my cooperation with Lambert Group is strictly business. It’s not what you’re imagining-”
Before she could even finish speaking, Hannah burst out laughing.
She looked Regina up and down. “A genius perfumer? Don’t flatter yourself. Do you really think you deserve that title?”
Zachary couldn’t stand to watch Regina get humiliated. He jumped to her defense immediately. “Her perfumes are the best I’ve ever smelled!”
The pride and affection in his voice were impossible to miss.
Genevieve said indifferently, “That only proves how shallow your taste is.”
That was enough to push Zachary over the edge. He looked at Genevieve like she was being deliberately unreasonable and pointed straight at her as he cursed, “You don’t know anything! Why are you sticking your nose into this? Shut up!”
The second he implied that Genevieve knew nothing, Hannah’s temper flared.
If Genevieve’s identity weren’t a secret, Hannah would’ve already torn those two apart.
Seeing Hannah get choked off, a trace of smug satisfaction flickered in Regina’s eyes.
She turned to Hannah, sounding wounded and righteous. “Ms. Brooks, I know you don’t like me, but you can’t slander my perfume like that. This fragrance was blended for me by Cen.
“I’m very close with Cen. If she finds out you’re trashing her perfume like this, she’s going to be furious.”
Hannah didn’t get angrier when she heard that. Instead, it made her want to laugh.
She looked Regina up and down, as if trying to figure out how someone could be so shameless. “So, you’re saying you know our boss?”

Regina thought that she’d scared Hannah. She lifted her chin higher, her voice full of arrogance.
“Of course. Cen said my sense of smell is the sharpest she’s ever encountered. The perfume I’m wearing today was a welcome gift from her. If you say it stinks, you’re humiliating Cen.”
Genevieve raised an eyebrow and met Hannah’s eyes.
Genevieve wordlessly mouthed, “I didn’t.”
Hannah mouthed back, “She’s an idiot.”
After the exchange, Hannah smoothed her expression and said, “Stop being so shameless. Our boss doesn’t let just anyone use her name.”
Then, she stopped wasting her breath on them. She took Genevieve by the arm and turned away. “Gen, let’s go. Don’t get bitten by a mad dog.”
“Stop right there!” Zachary shouted behind them. “Genevieve, come back here! Are you still not embarrassed enough?”
