Who does he think he is to threaten me? I’m Harold Wilson, damn it!”

He then turned to Loreen, wearing a self-satisfied expression. “You know, there are always these annoying pests wherever you go. Don’t let him ruin our evening. Let’s enjoy our dinner.”

Unfortunately, the unsettling incident had completely shattered Loreen’s celebratory mood. She simply nodded in silence.

Throughout the meal, Harold attempted to uplift the atmosphere with conversation, but Loreen remained uninterested.

To her, Harold was merely an incompetent and reckless man; even if he were the last man on Earth, he wouldn’t make her list.

Conversely, Harold believed that Loreen would be charmed by his bravado after he dealt with that foolish young man. Instead, she appeared increasingly repulsed and disgusted by him.

Feeling dejected, Harold noticed the annoyance etched on Loreen’s face. If she disliked men who resorted to violence, then he had truly shot himself in the foot by smashing the wine bottle over the young man’s head, hadn’t he?

Throughout the meal, Harold’s spirits sunk.

After they finished dining, he suggested heading out for a second round to get better acquainted, but Loreen frowned at him and replied, “It’s getting late, I need to head home. Thanks for dinner.”

A shadow of disappointment crossed Harold’s face. “Let me escort you home, then!”

Loreen shook her head firmly. “No, that’s alright. I’ll just grab a taxi.” Her intent to distance herself from Harold was clear.

Fury simmered within Harold, but he masked it with politeness. “At least let me see you off, so I know which car you get into.”

This time, Loreen didn’t object. She nodded and quietly walked out of the restaurant, with Harold quickly following her.

He was irked by how the evening had unfolded. He had envisioned a romantic outing and a heartfelt confession to Loreen, but that unfortunate young man had ruined everything! To make matters worse, he had likely left a negative impression on her too! It was just not his day.

“If I ever come across that bastard again, I’ll make him pay!” Harold muttered under his breath.

***

Meanwhile, Charlie had just finished dinner and was tidying up the dishes.

Claire called out anxiously, “Charlie, I need that supplier quotation from my bag. Did you see it?”

Charlie shook his head. “Nope, I haven’t touched your bag since we got back.”

Claire paused, trying to recall where she had seen it, then slapped her forehead in realization. “Oh no, I think I left it in the meeting room! I need it for tomorrow morning. Can you drive me there to pick it up?”

Charlie chuckled softly. “Look at you, you’re exhausted. Just go rest; I’ll get it for you.”

Claire smiled gratefully. “You’re right, I am worn out. Thanks, dear! She realized these men were there because of the young man, and it looked like they were ready to strike!

Sure enough, the young man with the bloody bandage on his head appeared and shouted, “Damn it, run!”

As soon as he yelled, the group of men lunged towards Harold.

“I’m from the Wilson family! Don’t you dare touch me!”

Harold felt panic and confusion take over, but he mustered a defiant shout.

A burly man grinned mockingly as he lifted his steel pipe, preparing to strike.

The young man felt a wave of dizziness wash over him from the brutal impact, nearly collapsing onto the floor.
