Adam stood there, his jaw nearly hitting the floor as he processed what had just happened. \u201cThis\u2026 how is this even possible?!\u201d he muttered, bewildered.<\/p>\n

Aurora was mortified. Since she began fighting, she\u2019d never felt so humiliated, and the location of Charlie\u2019s kick only added to her embarrassment.<\/p>\n

Fuming, Aurora picked herself up and readied herself to charge at Charlie, determined to make him pay for what he had done.<\/p>\n

\u201cAurora, stop right there! Do not disrespect Mr. Wade!\u201d<\/p>\n

Suddenly, a middle-aged man rushed over, grabbing Aurora by the arm.<\/p>\n

Aurora, still flustered, shouted, \u201cDad! Let go! I\u2019m going to make him pay!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018How dare he kick me? My backside is hurting because of him!\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cEnough!\u201d<\/p>\n

The man snapped at Aurora, his glare fierce.<\/p>\n

He then approached Charlie with a deferential demeanor. After taking a deep breath, he spoke respectfully, \u201cMr. Wade, it\u2019s good to see you again. I apologize for my daughter and son\u2019s behavior. I will ensure they apologize to you and reflect on their actions when we get home.\u201d<\/p>\n

Aurora and Adam exchanged shocked glances, unable to comprehend why their father was being so submissive to this young man.<\/p>\n

Charlie recognized the man immediately; he had met him while accompanying Jasmine to appraise her antique. His name was Graham Quinton.<\/p>\n

\u201cMr. Quinton, it sounds like your children need some proper discipline,\u201d Charlie replied, nodding in acknowledgment.<\/p>\n

Graham nodded vigorously, shooting a sharp look at both Aurora and Adam. \u201cCome here and apologize to Mr. Wade right now!\u201d he commanded.<\/p>\n

\u201cI will not apologize to that jerk! He kicked me!\u201d Aurora retorted, her face flushed with anger.<\/p>\n

Graham was losing his patience quickly. \u201cI want you to apologize to him! Now!\u201d<\/p>\n

Seeing her father\u2019s temper flare, Aurora felt defeated. She bit her lip and mumbled, \u201cI\u2019m sorry\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Adam was fuming. \u201cFather, this kid humiliated me and even kicked Aurora! Why should we apologize? You should be teaching him a lesson for us! If you can\u2019t handle it, I\u2019ll find someone who can!\u201d<\/p>\n

Slap!<\/p>\n

Graham\u2019s patience snapped, and he slapped Adam across the face without hesitation. \u201cYou idiot! Get on your knees and apologize to Mr. Wade!\u201d<\/p>\n

Adam was stunned, unable to believe his father would strike him in front of so many witnesses. Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth as he instinctively covered his face, horrified at how things had spiraled out of control.<\/p>\n

But kneeling before someone in public? Wouldn\u2019t that tarnish the reputation of the Quinton family? How could he possibly hold his head high in Aurous Hill again?<\/p>\n

Grinding his teeth, Graham pressed on, \u201cYou fool! If it weren\u2019t for Mr. Wade revealing the true nature of that chalcedony pendant you\u2019ve treated like a treasure, it could have cost you your life! It might have even brought ruin to the entire Quinton family!\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cI\u2019ve been wondering why our family has faced so much bad luck lately. It turns out it\u2019s all because of you! You brought this misfortune upon us with that pendant! Think about how your grandfather would react if he knew!\u201d<\/p>\n

Realizing how serious the situation was, Adam knelt before Charlie, fear evident in his eyes.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t hear your apology!\u201d Graham shouted.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes! Yes, I\u2019m sorry\u2026\u201d Adam stammered, trembling in fear.<\/p>\n

Graham turned to Charlie, speaking with respect. \u201cMr. Wade, is there anything else I can do to make amends? Will you accept their apology?\u201d<\/p>\n

Charlie replied promptly, \u201cIt\u2019s fine. Since he\u2019s already on his knees asking for forgiveness, I\u2019ll let it slide this time.\u201d<\/p>\n

With a sigh of relief, Graham asked, \u201cMr. Wade, I have one more question. Since Adam has discarded the chalcedony pendant, can the Quinton family avoid further misfortune?\u201d<\/p>\n

Charlie smirked at Graham\u2019s question. \u201cDid you honestly think it would be that simple? That jade plug was powerful. It wasn\u2019t just affecting Adam. In my honest opinion, the Quinton family is on a path to ruin within a year!\u201d<\/p>\n
