Yet, the identities of the bride and groom remained a mystery.<\/p>\n

Charlie drove his customized BMW 520 as he headed home with Claire.<\/p>\n

Claire was still basking in the joy of the day, feeling as if she were floating on cloud nine. She couldn\u2019t help but ask, \u201cHow did you manage to book the Sky Garden? They\u2019ve never allowed that before.\u201d<\/p>\n

Charlie replied with a sly smile, \u201cWell, the senior executive of Shangri-La is an old friend of mine from the orphanage. We went through tough times together, and I used to share my steamed buns with him. So when I asked for a favor, he happily agreed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Claire raised an eyebrow. \u201cOh, I see. How come I\u2019ve never heard about this before?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI have many friends from the orphanage, and it would take me at least three days to tell you about all of them. I didn\u2019t mention it because I thought you might not want to hear about my past,\u201d Charlie explained.<\/p>\n

With sincerity, Claire said, \u201cYou are my husband; I\u2019m definitely interested in your past. I\u2019m quite curious.\u201d<\/p>\n

Charlie chuckled, \u201cAlright then, I\u2019ll share more with you!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cGreat!\u201d she replied enthusiastically.<\/p>\n

Once they reached their neighborhood, Charlie parked the car downstairs.<\/p>\n

As they stepped out, they unexpectedly ran into Claire\u2019s parents returning from an outing.<\/p>\n

Elaine, Claire\u2019s mother, exclaimed in surprise, \u201cClaire, where did this BMW come from?\u201d<\/p>\n

Jacob, Claire\u2019s father, had a twinkle in his eye upon seeing the car. \u201cWow! A BMW! Is this your new car, Claire? You\u2019ve really splurged, huh!\u201d<\/p>\n

Claire quickly corrected them, \u201cMom, Dad, I didn\u2019t buy this car; it belongs to Charlie.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cCharlie?\u201d Jacob furrowed his brow, intrigued. He turned to Charlie and questioned, \u201cWhere did you find the money for this car? You didn\u2019t use Claire\u2019s money, did you?\u201d<\/p>\n

Charlie waved his hands in protest. \u201cNo, Dad, I bought this with my own savings\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Elaine pulled Jacob toward the car for a closer look, then frowned, \u201cHuh! You live under our roof, and we pay for your meals, but you don\u2019t even show us appreciation when you can afford a BMW! You ungrateful young man!\u201d<\/p>\n

Claire quickly intervened, \u201cMom, please don\u2019t talk about Charlie like that\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

With a hint of jealousy, Jacob remarked, \u201cA 520? Does he really think he deserves such a nice car? I think a 3 Series would be more than enough for him!\u201d<\/p>\n

Elaine responded coldly, \u201cYour dad doesn\u2019t even have a car yet! At his age, he deserves to enjoy life more. Otherwise, it\u2019ll be too late!\u201d<\/p>\n

Then, with a commanding tone, she suggested, \u201cHow about this? You should gift the car to your dad and let him use it!\u201d<\/p>\n

Claire turned to Charlie, biting her lip as she asked, \u201cCharlie, what do you think?\u201d<\/p>\n

In Charlie\u2019s mind, he didn\u2019t mind the idea, but he knew the car was actually a 760, not a 520!<\/p>\n

Truthfully, he thought a BMW 760 would be overkill for his father-in-law, who was a henpecked husband and not exactly in Lady Wilson\u2019s good graces\u2026<\/p>\n

As he pondered this, he quickly crafted a flattering excuse. \u201cHmm, Dad, this is actually a BMW 520, the most basic model in the 5 Series. People might tease you if they see you driving it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Elaine frowned, clearly displeased. \u201cWhy? You don\u2019t want to give it to us, do you?\u201d<\/p>\n

Charlie rushed to clarify, \u201cOh, no, no! That\u2019s not what I meant! It\u2019s just that I can\u2019t let you drive such a basic model. How about this? Let Claire use this car, and I\u2019ll buy you a 530. It\u2019s a step up from the 520 and will look much better for you, don\u2019t you think?\u201d<\/p>\n

Elaine looked intrigued, her frown softening. \u201cYou still have enough money to buy a 530?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, I have some funds left since I only made a down payment on this car. Don\u2019t worry; I\u2019ll take you car shopping tomorrow morning!\u201d<\/p>\n
