They were all puzzled as to why this fierce gangster, who had just beaten up Clinton, would kneel before Charlie. He seemed genuinely frightened!<\/p>\n

Claire was equally astonished. She tugged on Charlie\u2019s arm and asked, \u201cWhat\u2019s happening? Do you know him?\u201d<\/p>\n

Charlie quickly shook his head, anxious that she might misunderstand the situation. \u201cNo! I don\u2019t know him!\u201d<\/p>\n

The flattery was absolutely over the top!<\/p>\n

Scarface turned to Douglas in a frenzy, muttering, \u201cSince you\u2019re Mr. Wade\u2019s friend, I\u2019ll provide you with my full protection from now on at no charge! If anything happens, I\u2019ve got your back!\u201d<\/p>\n

His declaration reverberated through the restaurant like a shockwave, leaving everyone in astonished silence!<\/p>\n

Lily was so thrilled she nearly cried. The stark contrast between Clinton and Charlie was both exhilarating and amusing!<\/p>\n

Thanks to Charlie, they not only retained the 40% share but also gained free protection, all because Scarface wanted to win Charlie\u2019s favor!<\/p>\n

They could finally run their business without fear!<\/p>\n

Scarface glanced at Clinton, who lay unconscious from the brutal beating, and said apologetically, \u201cMr. Wade, I\u2019m sorry for hurting your friend\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Charlie responded flatly, \u201cIt\u2019s fine; he\u2019s not my friend, just an acquaintance.\u201d<\/p>\n

Then he added, \u201cGet him to the hospital. Don\u2019t disrupt the opening ceremony here.\u201d<\/p>\n

Scarface nodded eagerly. \u201cDon\u2019t worry! We\u2019ll take him to the hospital right away! Mr. Wade, please continue with the party! Excuse us!\u201d<\/p>\n

He gestured for his men to carry the unconscious Clinton and hurried out the door.<\/p>\n

Once they left, everyone turned their attention to Charlie. The initial disdain had transformed into shock and then admiration.<\/p>\n
