Loreen confirmed with a nod, \u201cYes, I just started.\u201d<\/p>\n

Clinton\u2019s smile grew even wider. \u201cWhat a coincidence! My dad is the deputy general manager of a department at Emgrand! I can ask him to look out for you at work.\u201d<\/p>\n

The table erupted in surprise, with several voices exclaiming, \u201cWow, Clinton, your dad is the deputy general manager of Emgrand Group?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYep!\u201d Clinton replied proudly. \u201cHe got promoted last year.\u201d<\/p>\n

Someone chimed in with admiration, \u201cA deputy general manager must earn several million dollars a year, right? That\u2019s incredible! No wonder your family is so wealthy!\u201d<\/p>\n

Clinton chuckled and added, \u201cThat\u2019s just his salary. He has significant authority and various side incomes. You\u2019ve all heard about Emgrand Group\u2019s luxurious hotel project, right? Once that wraps up, my dad could make between ten to twenty million.\u201d<\/p>\n

A guy sitting across from him quickly interjected, \u201cClinton, I really want to join Emgrand Group, but I haven\u2019t heard back after applying several times. Could you please speak to your dad about possibly giving me an internal recommendation?\u201d<\/p>\n

Clinton casually nodded, \u201cSure! Send me your resume, and I\u2019ll have a word with him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Charlie couldn\u2019t help but frown. He was surprised to learn about Clinton\u2019s father\u2019s high position at Emgrand Group.<\/p>\n

This was becoming more intriguing. He planned to send Doris a message later about firing Clinton\u2019s father.<\/p>\n

Charlie then asked, \u201cClinton, given your father\u2019s position, why doesn\u2019t he help you get in?\u201d<\/p>\n

Clinton sneered, \u201cWhat do you know, loser? If I joined Emgrand Group, people would constantly be watching me because of my dad. That would be no fun.\u201d<\/p>\n

He then leaned back with a smug expression, \u201cSo, I never considered joining. I run a company that supplies building materials, and I can secure deals with Emgrand through my dad.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWow!\u201d someone exclaimed. \u201cYou must be making a fortune then!\u201d<\/p>\n

Clinton scoffed, \u201cNah, it\u2019s nothing major, maybe a few million a year.\u201d<\/p>\n

Turning to Charlie, he asked in a condescending tone, \u201cSo, Charlie, what do you do for a living? Don\u2019t tell me you\u2019ve been just doing housework since you \u2018married\u2019 Claire?\u201d<\/p>\n

The table burst into laughter at his comment.<\/p>\n

Charlie shrugged and replied nonchalantly, \u201cYes, in addition to laundry and cooking, I also drive my wife to work and give her massages every day. It\u2019s quite enjoyable.\u201d<\/p>\n

Clinton felt a surge of anger. How could this shameless guy be so casual and proud about it?<\/p>\n

He gritted his teeth and shot back, \u201cI didn\u2019t realize you were such a happy freeloader, Charlie!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo what?\u201d Charlie replied confidently. \u201cI haven\u2019t stolen or robbed anyone. I contribute by doing household chores; why shouldn\u2019t I be happy about it?\u201d<\/p>\n

A sudden hush fell over the table as everyone was taken aback. They had never encountered such a bold person before!<\/p>\n

The irony was that they were envious of him!<\/p>\n

After all, Claire was stunning and elegant\u2014a dream for many to be able to rely on such a goddess-like woman!<\/p>\n

Jealousy and resentment filled the air!<\/p>\n

Why should being a stay-at-home husband be frowned upon if it meant being with someone as beautiful as Claire? It could even be seen as a success!<\/p>\n

Clinton nearly choked on his drink at Charlie\u2019s response.<\/p>\n

Just then, Lily, Douglas\u2019s fianc\u00e9e, took the stage, expressing her gratitude with a warm smile. \u201cI\u2019m thrilled to see all of you here to celebrate our grand opening today, and I appreciate the thoughtful gifts you\u2019ve brought. Both Douglas and I are truly touched and grateful. To show our appreciation, we\u2019re excited to announce the details of the gifts!\u201d<\/p>\n

It was customary to share the pricing information of the gifts during such an opening ceremony.<\/p>\n
