Through gritted teeth, he sneered, \u201cCharlie Wade, who do you think you are? Just a useless toy boy who married into our family! You seriously expect me to bow before you?\u201d<\/p>\n

Charlie responded flatly, \u201cYes, I\u2019m just a toy boy. But remember, we made an oath yesterday. Whoever breaks it will face dire consequences\u2014your mother, father, grandparents, all of them!\u201d He emphasized the word \u2018grandma,\u2019 and Lady Wilson\u2019s face darkened.<\/p>\n

She glared at Harold and asked coldly, \u201cWhat\u2019s it going to be? Do you really want to bring harm upon me?\u201d<\/p>\n

Panicking, Harold blurted out, \u201cGrandma, don\u2019t listen to him! He just wants to humiliate me and insult you!\u201d<\/p>\n

Charlie replied calmly, \u201cHarold, don\u2019t try to deceive Grandma. You made a vow. If you break it, you\u2019ll be cursed. Do you want to condemn her?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cGrandma, we were just joking! You can\u2019t take it seriously!\u201d<\/p>\n

Lady Wilson, her face expressionless, said, \u201cYou know I\u2019m a devoted Buddhist. How dare you break a promise made before God?!\u201d<\/p>\n
