Claire hesitated, worried that mentioning the chairman\u2019s intentions might make Charlie jealous. So, she quickly changed the subject, \u201cIt\u2019s a long story. Let\u2019s head back to the office and share the good news!\u201d<\/p>\n

Charlie chuckled. \u201cAlright! This time, that arrogant Harold must honor the bet and kneel before me!\u201d<\/p>\n

Claire agreed, \u201cYes! He\u2019s so snobbish and conceited; it\u2019s time he faces a reality check!\u201d<\/p>\n

In truth, Claire had her own strong personality. Harold and the rest of the family had always looked down on her and Charlie, but now that she had achieved the impossible, she was determined to humble them a bit.<\/p>\n

Ten minutes later, they arrived at the Wilson Group office. The atmosphere in the conference room was tense and peculiar. Everyone knew Claire had gone to Emgrand Group that morning, but they didn\u2019t believe she could succeed, so they were there to mock her. To their surprise, she returned much sooner than expected. As Claire and Charlie entered, they were met with sneers and disdainful looks.<\/p>\n

Harold sneered, \u201cHey, Claire, back so soon? Couldn\u2019t even get past their door, right? Hahaha!\u201d Wendy chimed in, \u201cClaire, failing in less than an hour? That\u2019s a world record!\u201d<\/p>\n

A cloud of disappointment shadowed Lady Wilson\u2019s face. She was irked; she understood that tackling a project with Emgrand Group was daunting, but Claire should at least show some determination, even in failure! How could she give up so easily?<\/p>\n

Lady Wilson glared at Claire and said, \u201cClaire Wilson, you disappoint me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Charlie frowned at their reactions. How could they be so vile? They were ridiculing Claire without knowing the outcome! Especially Harold, the insufferable brat! Who did he think he was to look down on them? He better be ready to kneel before him!<\/p>\n

Initially thrilled, Claire\u2019s excitement began to wane in the face of their mockery. Anger simmered inside her as she replied, \u201cI\u2019m sorry to disappoint, but I\u2019ve secured a deal with Doris Young from Emgrand Group!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat? You actually did it?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNo way! That\u2019s impossible! You couldn\u2019t even meet Doris Young!\u201d<\/p>\n

Everyone gasped in disbelief.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo way!\u201d Wendy laughed derisively. \u201cSixty million? You must think we\u2019re all idiots! If you claim it\u2019s sixty million, I can just as easily say I\u2019ll land a hundred million dollar contract!\u201d<\/p>\n

Harold curled his lip in contempt. \u201cClaire, you\u2019re making fools of Grandma and us!\u201d<\/p>\n

He turned to Lady Wilson, saying, \u201cGrandma, this is unacceptable! You can\u2019t just let her off the hook!\u201d<\/p>\n

Lady Wilson was fuming, her teeth clenched in anger. She already thought it was a stretch to land a thirty million dollar deal, but Claire came back claiming it was worth sixty million\u2026 Did the young lady truly believe she could toy with everyone in front of such a large audience? If she didn\u2019t expel this rebellious girl from the family, how could she maintain control in the future?<\/p>\n
