I woke up early in the morning, I had my breakfast before taking a bath today. I did my morning routine, I’ll just wear my school skirt and white short sleeve T-shirt and make my tie short, my school blazer and short white socks. I brushed my hair and wore earrings. I went to brush my teeth and pack my bag. I cleaned around my room and went to prepare my lunch box. I placed it in my bag and watched TV.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

At 6:58am I took my bag and exited the house, I locked and went to stand over the gate. Nothando came to me when our school transport showed up from the top corner of the street.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Nothando : are you okay?<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Naomi : I’m good (smiles)<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Nothando : so… Did you call him?<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Naomi : yeah(sigh) all I can say is that I’m going to focus on my studies from now on.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Nothando : I guess things didn’t go well when you talked to him.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

I answered getting inside the school transport, we greeted the driver and went straight to the backseat. She took out a takeaway and opened it. Ohh, chocolate cake!!! She gave me a plastic fork and we digged in.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Nothando : we can go to the mall after school. We’ll change and go there just to refresh your mind… You know.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Naomi : I’d love that. I’ll save some money for snacks.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Nothando : okay. I’ll do the same. We might just buy matching outfits as well, I have enough money on me.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Naomi : okay, next time it’ll be on me though.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Nothando : okay. I can already feel the vibe, I’m so going to enjoy this evening. Oh and I’ll take care of your hair, we will do straight backs. Short with beads or long?<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

She smiles.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Naomi : you wanna spoil me?<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Nothando : yeah. I don’t have a friend here, you’re my new friend. It’s been 4 years without friends so I wanna show how much I appreciate you.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Nothando : I’m “too thick”<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

She says making quotation marks with her fingers. She then smiles at me and looks away. There’s nothing wrong with being thick.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Nothando : yeah but then it’s a problem, I couldn’t make friends because of being thick and because I’m dark skinned. But guess what? I’ve accepted myself the way I am and I wouldn’t change myself anywhere. Heyy I’m beautiful, dark-dindi lasekasi.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

We giggled and did the high five. I love this soul.<\/div>\n

Qhawe : I sent you guys a message on WhatsApp last night.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

I exited the classroom the classroom and went to her. I cleared my throat and she looked up and me and stepped back.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Qhawe : what did you mean when you said you’re going to stay away from me? Are you changing locations?<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Naomi : is it safe to go to class of I must go to the principal’s office for being late?<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Naomi : because I feel like it’s wrong okay? (Sigh) look, this is not a good place to talk, I just wanna go to class. I’m sorry I’m late but can I go to class now?<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
