The Maths period was the first period this morning. There was nothing much to do, school just reopened and we’re still on the patterns topic. Mr Nxumalo is our Maths teacher,he gave us a homework and I’m done with it already. I heard that the next period is English. The teacher comes in and she gives us copies for a short stories that we will study throughout the year. We started reading, learner by learner. When it was my turn she noticed that my face is new and I had to introduce myself,I hate introductions but I introduced myself anyway then read the story. She gave us questions as a homework,I’ll do this one at home. She left as soon as her period was over. Someone tapped my shoulder,I turned and it was a caramel-skinned girl with long relaxed hair. She’s beautiful. I smiled at her as I could see that she’s nervous.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Ncumisa : can you please help me with my hair,I was late this morning,I didn’t get a chance to fix it<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Naomi : oh okay, should I braid it or tie it up?<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Ncumisa : tie it up. You know how to braid?<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Naomi : yeah I braid myself most of the time,sit down so that I can start. I don’t wanna be caught by the teacher.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Ncumisa : oh uhm… Mrs Williams is not around. She’s not good,she’s at the hospital so they’re looking for a temporary teacher because she’s not totally okay.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Naomi : oh. That’s what she said?<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Ncumisa : she said she has cancer,she’s fighting it at the moment.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Naomi : so are they going to replace her?<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Ncumisa : Mrs Jones is looking for a temporary teacher. When she’s gone we’ll have someone to teach us. Hopefully we get a good Physical sciences teacher like her.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

I nodded and tied her hair into two neat buns.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Ncumisa : thank you. When did you get here?<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Naomi : today<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

She nods.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Ncumisa : wanna hang out with me and my friends? They’re in 11A though.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Naomi : yeah sure.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

I smiled.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Ncumisa : so what can we do now? Maybe you can do my hair?<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Naomi : I’ll just study.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Naomi : if you want to. She giggled going to fetch her books. We studied physical sciences.<\/div>\n

It’s now lunch time, Ncumisa introduced me to her friends: Mbaliyethemba and Ntandokayise.<\/div>\n
We went to the shops to buy food,I just bought snacks coz I made myself a lunchbox. We went to their usual sitting spot which is by the tennis court and ate.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Mbali : I’m just asking haoo,maybe she can get herself uDwayne and that way we’ll get closer to Sthembiso and Clyde.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Ntando : so you’re trying to use another girl for your shenanigans?<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Mbali : I’m not using her, Dwayne is Rich and he’ll take care of her very well.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Naomi : please don’t include me in your shenanigans,I didn’t come here for boys but to study.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Ntando : Just let Warona be Mbali!! You’ve been on her case since she got here,ayy suka!!<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Ntando pulled me and walked fast leaving the others where they were seating. We went to the toilets.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Ntando : I’m sorry on her behalf,she’s just into men.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Naomi : it’s fine,I can stand up for myself.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Ntando : please don’t get influenced by her. I’m already used to her and hey… Don’t accept any party invites you get from her.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Naomi : oh… Why?<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Ntando : just focus on school please. Don’t entertain her at all. Let’s go back to the others.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

I can see that there’s something… Maybe she was also invited to a party but what happened there? That’s if what I’m thinking of is true.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

I went to do my thing then washes my hands. We went back to the others<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

We sat down and had our lunch. After lunch we went back to class. Mrs Jones came in class.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Mrs Jones : guys I need your attention. You all know that Mrs Williams is at the hospital. I know that some of you won’t study because of she’s not around so we decided to get her a temporary teacher at Least until she has fully recovered. We have found the teacher, he’ll be in here shortly for the introductions. Please show him some respect.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Some guy came in… He looks so young. His trimmed black hair suits him,he has Waves done on it. His has a lil beard on his chin and a little mustache. He’s brown skinned. He has long eyelashes and big eyes with a sharp nose,he’s so handsome. His light brown eyes suit him. He has black lips,argh he’s so handsome. I dropped my eye to his body,he is wearing a white long sleeve t-shirt with black formal pants and white Nike airforce 1. He’s so neat.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Mrs Jones : oh he’s here. Learners,meet Mr Q Mthembu. Please give him the respect you give to us. Mr Mthembu,they’re all yours.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

He nods and smiles at the principal and she leaves, he looks at us and his eyes land on mine,my lips part a bit. He stares for a while and I look away.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Mr Q : Good afternoon. I know that you haven’t been studying because you don’t have a teacher. And your period for the day has already passed so I have to go to 11A at the moment. I just wanted to inform you that you need to start studying this topic because it has a lot of marks. Tomorrow we’ll start with our lessons but I hope that you will already have something in mind. Then we will write class tests each and every Friday on every topic. We’ll also attend on Saturdays. We’ll open up a group on WhatsApp for this subject and I’ll share some study guides and notes for you there. Hopefully they’ll help you guys. Please write the list, your names and WhatsApp numbers. She said leaving to her desk. The list paper finally got to me,I wrote my tens and full names then went to Ncumisa’s desk. I asked the teacher for a permission to go out and she agreed,I asked for the 11A class directions and she said it’s the next class.I knocked and he looked at the door,he asked me to come in and I did. The 11A gents started cheering and whistling.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

He said looking back at the 11A Learners with a Stern look and they kept quiet.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Naomi : here’s the list you asked for sir<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Mr Q : Thank you Ms… Sebothoma. You may go back to class. I looked at him confused,how did he…? Oh,he asked the list start by the door and end up on my desk. Smart move. He removes his eyes from the list and looks at me and smiles,I turned and went back to class. I couldn’t focus though,why would he look at me like that? It was actually so…sexy? I felt my temperature going up at that moment. I sighed and shaked my head a bit. I don’t want to be distracted right now.<\/div>\n

It’s now after school. I went to Mrs Jones for my tennis kit and their practice time table then went home. They’re practicing today but I’ll just join next time not today. I have an Afrikaans and English homeworks to do and Physical sciences notes to read. I don’t want to be a disappointment when he asks a few questions.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Why am I worried about what he might say? Argh silly thoughts. When I got home I went straight to my room go put away these heavy books I got on me. I changed to a bumshort and an oversized t-shirt. Shoes? Nah. I’ll just walk in my socks.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

I went to the kitchen and made myself noodles and added mayonnaise before heading back to my room to do my English homework and study the notes. Mom will have to help me with Afrikaans,I know nothing about this language. After a while I decided to Make dinner. Rice and chicken stew will be fine for the night. I called my mom.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Naomi : I need your help with Afrikaans homework Mama.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
