I don\u2019t know how I feel about trending. I don\u2019t want people in my business. I have seen the stories that journalists make up, and I don\u2019t know if I will be able to handle that. On the other hand, I want to be with Dante. I want to be his woman, and I want him to learn to love me how I want to be loved. Would it be a bad thing to want him, be with him and not his fame? I am not even celebrity material.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Dante takes my hands and says, \u201cTalk to me. What is on your mind?\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cYou are a billionaire, Dante.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cYou don\u2019t date billionaires?\u201d he asks, and I laugh. He doesn\u2019t join in, meaning it\u2019s not a joke to him. It\u2019s not every day a hot billionaire approaches a stranger with a marriage proposal and doesn\u2019t want a prenup.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWhy me Dante? I am just plain Jade. I don\u2019t even have anything to offer you.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

He says, \u201cYou have yourself. As I said, I want a woman by myside and chose you. I wish I could say you can still say no, but we slept together now, so that doesn\u2019t count. You are mine now.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThis is a lot to take in.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI know, but as I said, this is your life now. Better embrace it,\u201d he says. \u201cLet\u2019s go get something to eat.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

He leads us to where we eat. As we walk there, he tells me that Anne will give me a tour of the house later in the day. He also mentions that I don\u2019t have to move in with him right away, after all, we are not yet married, but he voices out how it would make him happy if I moved in with him sooner. He is so good with words, I have to say. He knows what to say and when to say it.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWhat did your family say about you being in the paper?\u201d I ask Dante as he pulls a chair for me to sit. I thought I was going to get just my fruit salad, but these people cooked a feast.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
\u201cI\u2019m an adult, they can say what they want and think what they want. But my little brother Denzel did call and said he would like to meet you. It doesn\u2019t have to be now, though \u2013 whenever you are ready. What did your family say?\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

I answer, \u201cGiselle is shocked that you are a billionaire. I still haven\u2019t replied to my parents. I will see them in person.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cIf you need me to step in and say something, I will. We are doing this together \u2013 we are equals.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cWe are not, I am not a billionaire,\u201d I say and chuckle, but this always serious man doesn\u2019t get the joke.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cYou could be one too if we get married.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a joke, geez, Mr Lyon,\u201d I sip on my juice, looking at all the food in front of us. What do these people do with all this food that they cook? I clear my throat and say to Dante, \u201cWhat happens to the leftover food if I may ask?\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThe house staff eats it.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
\u201cHow many people do you have in total?\u201d I ask. I bet he has a lot of people. This is a big house; it must take a lot of people to keep it clean.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cJust ten.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Just ten like it\u2019s nothing. I can barely survive on my own, and he happens to have just ten people who work in his house. \u201cWhat do they do?\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cFour cleaners, one cook and his assistant who keeps the kitchen clean, fridge and cupboards stocked, two security guards at the gate, then we have Elis and Anne.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
\u201cElis and Anne said the other day was their first day, why?\u201d I am very curious.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
\u201cThey are for you. Anne will help you with all you need, and Elis will drive you everywhere you want to go and keep an eye on you.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
\u201cYou hired them before I said yes. How are they for me?\u201d I ask him. Did he know I was going to say yes?<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cEat, Jade.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

He didn\u2019t say Jade Marshal. I ask, \u201cDid you know I was going to say yes?\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cHonestly, no, but I hired them anyway.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cYou are a strange man, Mr Lyon,\u201d I push back my chair and stand, stretching myself. \u201cI am going to go shower.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI thought we agreed to shower together.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s\u2026\u201d I don\u2019t even get to finish my sentence; someone barges into the room. It\u2019s a woman who looks like she is in her late twenties.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cDante Lyon!\u201d she furiously strides towards us. She doesn\u2019t look happy, but she looks cute in the white dress she is wearing. Her afro also look nice.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
\u201cDon\u2019t yell in my house,\u201d Dantes answers, looking unbothered.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
\u201cWhat is this?\u201d she tosses a newspaper in front of Dante, spilling his coffee. I don\u2019t know why he is having coffee in this heat \u2013 I had juice. And is she going to ignore me like I am not in the room? I don\u2019t miss the picture of Dante and me dancing on the front page. How did these people manage to take such clear pictures when we were in a private session?<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
\u201cThat\u2019s a newspaper,\u201d Dante answers. I see he is blunt with everyone. Dante then says, \u201cMeet Jade, she is my woman. Jade Marshal, this is my little sister Rose.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
\u201cI don\u2019t care who she is. You are all over the media. What is going on? Is this all real or a fling?\u201d she says, totally ignoring me.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
\u201cYou will not disrespect my woman, Rose. Be a good girl and greet her politely,\u201d Dante utters firmly.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

I see Rose rolling her eyes, then she says to me, \u201cHello, Jade.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cHi, Rose,\u201d I greet back. What else can I say?<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Dante gets off the chair and says, \u201cJade and I are going to bathe. You could have just texted everything you said. I don\u2019t understand why you are here.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cYou have never trended with a woman. I just want some clarity,\u201d Rose says, this time calmer.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Dante answers, \u201cI am a forty-two-year-old grown man. I don\u2019t answer to you. And I was going to introduce her to the family, but you are just forward.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Dante takes my hands, and we leave the room. As we walk to his bedroom, I ask what that was about. He answers, \u201cRose has a loose screw in the head. Don\u2019t mind her.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cShe sounds upset that we are together.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
\u201cShe is more upset that I have someone in my life because she was trying to match me with another woman,\u201d he answers, opens the door to his bedroom, and I walk in first. The bed is now done, the clothes on the floor picked up. A dress has been laid out on the bed \u2013 for me, I guess.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cAre you with me so you avoid being matched with another woman?\u201d I ask him.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
\u201cI thought I told you why I want you to marry me.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
I fold my arms and say, \u201cThe last thing I want is your sister hating me. The next thing I am not good enough for her brother, and she makes my life a living hell.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cAre you a novel reader? Fiction novel reader to be precise?\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cYes, so?\u201d What has that to do with all this?<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

My phone vibrates a couple of times. I pick it up, it\u2019s five more pictures from Giselle. Can she please let me rest? I don\u2019t know why they are bringing up my old pictures. Can\u2019t I sue them for using my pictures without my permission? I read the headlines on the posts. These are Twitter posts.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI wasn\u2019t entirely truthful with you. I didn\u2019t only choose you for the reasons I told you. I chose you because I needed someone to trend on my behalf.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cTo me it does,\u201d he then pulls me closer, making the shirt wetter. He starts unbuttoning it and says, \u201cYou will be as famous as me. When out there, you represent me. When people see you, they see me.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cIn other words, I am going to be a trophy wife, a pretty thing next to you.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
