After vaguely instructing the caller to stabilize the situation for now, he hung up and looked up at me.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cTiana, didn\u2019t you check the proposal?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
It seemed that he remembered now. After Harley took the project from me and handed it off to Megan, I was always uneasy. Every time, I quietly corrected her countless mistakes until the final proposal was complete.\u00a0<\/p>\n
But each time, Harley would laugh and scold me for meddling, insisting Megan could finish it on her own.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Yet, when problems arose, Harley would shift the blame onto me-complaining I hadn\u2019t checked thoroughly enough and asking how I could have missed such obvious errors.\u00a0<\/p>\n
So this time, I didn\u2019t look at it. Not even once. He said Megan could handle it on her own, so I gave her the opportunity to prove herself.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cNo.\u201d I shook my head.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Harley\u2019s brows furrowed.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Just as he was about to lash out, I said calmly, \u201cThis was Megan\u2019s project. It wasn\u2019t my responsibility. I had no right and no obligation to interfere.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

I let out a cold laugh. \u201cBecause I\u2019m your wife, I\u2019m supposed to clean up your messes, take your yelling, endure your silent treatment, and stand by while you let everyone mock and bully me? 1\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cAs your wife, I stayed home for you, managed your company for you, and tolerated everything until now. I\u2019ve fulfilled my\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cBut what about you? Have you done anything that deserves the title of husband?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019re claiming I haven\u2019t? What do you mean by that?\u201d Harley shot back.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cFlirting with another woman? Conspiring with her to take my projects just so she could get promoted? That\u2019s what you call being a husband?\u201d I was firm, and my voice was laced with sarcasm.\u00a0<\/p>\n
This was a side of me Harley had never seen before. He seemed stunned and caught off guard. For a moment, he fell completely silent. He was unable to think of a rebuttal. 3\u00a0<\/p>\n
He clenched his jaw, trying to say something, then swallowed it back. After a few long minutes, he finally straightened up, putting on the stern authority he used at work.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t want to talk about meaningless things. Whether I\u2019m a good husband or not, I\u2019m still your boss.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThis project is work-related. You\u2019re my employee, so the company\u2019s problems are your problems too.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019re going to handle this project issue. I want it resolved within three days. Otherwise\u2026\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
He pulled out his phone. It seemed like he was searching the company\u2019s internal system for my name so he could forward the proposal to me. But after two minutes of searching, he still couldn\u2019t find it.\u00a0<\/p>\n
His expression darkened. Eventually, his eyes widened as he asked, \u201cWhere are you? Why can\u2019t I find you in the employee directory?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
