This was no longer the youth who would crumple to the ground after a single sucker punch. Asher was no longer around to defend her either.

He was currently protecting another woman.

Juliet knew very well that Evangeline didn’t just want to be like a sister to Asher. Otherwise, she wouldn’t be seeking a married man like him out without any sense of boundaries. Evangeline even often used her soft-spoken digs to assert dominance.

Juliet had crossed paths with Evangeline many times now and didn’t mind continuing this. After all, Juliet was bound to face such issues, given she’d married a handsome and rich husband.

But what concerned Juliet was the fact that Asher remained wilfully oblivious to Juliet and Evangeline’s “exchanges “. Even if Juliet married him, their positions would never be equal. Asher would always look down at her from above, controlling her.

In Asher’s subconscious mind, this difference in status would only cement the fact that it was Juliet who managed to marry him due to her lucky stars-that she climbed her way to the top with this.

The determined look in Juliet’s eyes grew stronger.

She had to face her own battles now that she’d forgo the Greene family’s protection.

“So what if I’ve divorced Asher?
