Logan stood frozen in place, his expression stiff and ugly. Anger radiated off him in waves as he glared at Vivian.\u00a0<\/p>\n
She merely smiled back, calm and unflinching, unrepentant. \u201cIf you\u2019re really that hungry, you can always eat out. I\u2019m sure the breakfast places outside have more variety than what I can offer here.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
The mockery in her voice was unmistakable. His face turned cold in an instant. \u201cAfter all these years together, you don\u2019t even have this much trust in me?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Vivian met Logan\u2019s gaze. His expression was icy, his eyes free of guilt, as though everything she said was a personal insult and a false accusation. She almost wanted to applaud his\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI fired her and explained everything to you. How long are you going to keep this up?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
She watched him with the cool scrutiny of someone sizing up a criminal. It only fueled his rage.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Vivian remained unmoved. The mockery in her eyes deepened, as if she were watching a\u00a0<\/p>\n

Logan\u2019s chest tightened, a flicker of panic crossing his eyes. But he refused to let her see him falter, forcing his anger into a deeper scowl.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Vivian couldn\u2019t help but find him amusing.\u00a0<\/p>\n
After seven years together, she knew his expressions and body language far too well. He had already betrayed all his emotions in front of her, yet still thought he was hiding them perfectly.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Seeing the derision in her eyes, Logan\u2019s frustration boiled over.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He\u2019d barely started when a phone ringtone cut him off.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Vivian glanced at the phone beside her and raised an eyebrow slightly. The caller was Edgewell Group CEO, Connor Sharpe. She reached for her phone, but Logan snatched it away first.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He frowned at her, then slid to answer and put it on speaker.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Connor said, \u201cMs. Hartwell, I\u2019ve thought over what you discussed with me yesterday. Let\u2019s set\u00a0<\/p>\n

Vivian exchanged a few more polite pleasantries before ending the call.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Logan stood beside her, his expression dark and stormy. \u201cI\u2019ll handle company matters. You\u2019ve already left the company and don\u2019t understand the current market demands. Going behind my back to contact Connor is completely disrupting my plans.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
That was exactly what she intended\u2013to disrupt his plans. She even wanted to poach all of Whitfield Group\u2019s business partners before he realized what was happening, then return to Durmont and start her own company. Unfortunately, most of the contracts hadn\u2019t expired yet.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI may have left the company, but I hold 51% of Whitfield Group\u2019s shares,\u201d Vivian said evenly. \u201cDon\u2019t forget that I\u2019m the largest shareholder. I have the right to make decisions about anything involving the company.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Vivian pocketed her phone and walked toward the kitchen with the dishes without sparing Logan another glance.\u00a0<\/p>\n
His chest rose and fell as he tugged irritably at his collar. His phone rang at that moment. The sweet, romantic ringtone that would normally be pleasant now felt inexplicably grating. He glared toward Vivian in the kitchen, then slid to answer, putting the phone to his ear.\u00a0<\/p>\n
