He followed her gaze and saw a giant scorpion, the size of his palm, clamped onto her exposed ankle.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDamn it!\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ignoring the danger, he grabbed a knife and fork from the table, bent down, and pried the scorpion off, flinging it to the floor before stomping it into a paste.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Honora clung to Finley\u2019s arm, her eyes welling with tears as she whimpered, \u201cFinley, what do we do? I think\u2026 I think it\u2019s poisonous.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Finley was speechless. That useless Draven was more trouble than he was worth.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDon\u2019t be afraid, Honora,\u201d he said, trying to soothe her. \u201cThere are doctors here. She held a single green leaf between her fingers, her lips pressed to its edge. The beautiful, haunting melody was coming from that simple leaf.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Larissa continued to play for about three minutes, and by the time she stopped, every last one of the terrifying creatures had vanished. The hall was once again calm.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat just happened?
