Alessandro was perplexed by Enora\u2019s words. The only one sick in the palace was Lissana. Without realizing it, his gaze drifted towards the palace,\u00a0<\/p>\n
Enora smiled, pleased that she had achieved her goal.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cYou say she\u2019s not in the palace, yet you seem troubled by what I\u2019ve said.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Alessandro realized he had fallen into her trap. He regained his composure and retorted, \u201cShe is not here, so spare me your lies.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s no lie, I can sense her power, chaotic from being sealed after awakening.\u201d Enora continued, \u201cI\u2019ll tell you the symptoms she must be exhibiting so you\u2019ll see I\u2019m not lying. Her body must be burning, and the palms of her hands must be very red, as her magic fights to be free. She must be very ill. If you leave her like this, she will die within a couple of hours. It doesn\u2019t matter how many doctors or mages you call, none of them can help her. Only I can save her.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Alessandro\u2019s face turned ashen. Those were Lissana\u2019s symptoms, but her power hadn\u2019t awakened yet; otherwise, he would have known. She had to be lying, he thought.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cYou lie.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Enora shrugged. \u201cI came to retrieve the half\u2013breed because I cannot allow someone with the power of light to dwell among humans. But if she dies, my purpose will be fulfilled. It is your decision to save her or let her die.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Alessandro clenched his fists. He didn\u2019t know if Enora was telling the truth or if it was a ploy to get what she wanted. What he did know was that his daughter was gravely ill. If the Elven Queen\u2019s words were true and he ignored them, his daughter would die.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cYou don\u2019t have much time. Her condition is worsening. What will you do with her?\u201d Enora pressed.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI have no intention of killing her, if that\u2019s what you\u2019re asking. But as I said, she cannot live among humans. If you hand her over to me, I will save her, and she will have a long life. I will see to it.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Alessandro feared for Lissana\u2019s life, so he had no choice but to believe the Elven Queen\u2019s words. He would let her heal Lissana, and then he would deal with the rest somehow. He would not let her\u00a0<\/p>\n
take her away.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cSwear you will not harm my family, and I will take you to her.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Enora placed her hand on her heart. \u201cI swear on the memory of my sister, Sophia, that I will not harm her. Are you satisfied?\u201d she asked, a hint of displeasure in her voice at having made a promise to a human.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cVery well. I will take you to her, but only you. Your army will stay out.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cNo! You don\u2019t trust me!\u201d Enora retorted, her discontent evident.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI will not allow your entire army into my palace.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI understand, You don\u2019t trust me, just as I don\u2019t trust you. So, I will bring a small group of soldiers.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Alessandro almost laughed. It was clear that even with a small group, she had the upper hand, as\u00a0<\/p>\n
she could nullify his magic. He responded negatively to her request.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cYou can nullify my magic, and you are incredibly strong despite your appearance. I will only allow\u00a0<\/p>\n
two soldiers to accompany you. The rest will stay here.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Enora knew she had the advantage, so she accepted his conditions, even though they seemed\u00a0<\/p>\n
unfair.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cVery well. But I warn you, if you plan to deceive me, you will die.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cAgreed.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Enora turned and addressed two of her soldiers, tall, statuesque women with beautiful features, yet as lethal as carnivorous flowers.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cBleir, Gala, accompany me. The rest of you, wait here.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Both stepped forward and responded, \u201cAs you command, Your Majesty.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Alessandro turned and said, \u201cFollow me.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
As Alessandro passed Taren, he muttered, \u201cGo and tell Cassian that I am on my way. He is to be\u00a0<\/p>\n
alert at all times.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Taren did as Alessandro ordered and headed towards Cassian\u2019s room.\u00a0<\/p>\n
As they walked through the halls, Enora spoke to Alessandro. \u201cI don\u2019t know if you\u2019re very brave or very foolish.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWhy do you say that?\u201d he asked.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause you walk with your back to me. Aren\u2019t you afraid I\u2019ll kill you?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cDo you plan to?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cNo. At the moment, I have no interest in killing you, but that may change depending on what you\u00a0<\/p>\n
do.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIs that a threat?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s more of a warning. I doubt you\u2019ll hand over the half\u2013breed so easily. You must be up to something.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you think I\u2019m up to something, why have you followed me?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

When they reached the room where Lissana was, Enora hurried Alessandro to open the door. She could feel the energy of that half\u2013breed about to erupt.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Upon opening the door, Enora momentarily thought the owner of that energy was the young, black\u2013haired woman holding a baby. But upon closer inspection, she realized it was the baby.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat is the meaning of this? Why is the half\u2013breed a baby?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Alessandro answered, \u201cShe is my daughter.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThe half\u2013breed has had a daughter?!\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
The baby\u2019s condition worsened. Seeing that she was about to die, Enora approached them.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Maya clutched Lissana to her chest, fearful of what the Elven Queen might do.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you don\u2019t let me treat this baby, she will die. That tiny body cannot continue to contain so much\u00a0<\/p>\n
energy.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Maya looked at Alessandro. He nodded and said, \u201cLet her treat her.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Looking into her eyes, Enora realized that this girl had fairy blood. She also noticed that her condition was not good, that her life energy was escaping. If she used her magic near her, she would end up hurting her. \u201cGive me the baby.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Maya hesitated for a moment.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cShe\u2019s dying. If you want me to save her, give her to me,\u201d Enora insisted.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Maya handed Lissana over. Enora laid her down in the cradle in the room and said to Maya, \u201cYou shouldn\u2019t get so close. In your condition, it would be dangerous.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Maya moved away. Enora placed her hand on the tiny baby who was fighting to survive. A warm light emanated from her hand as she unblocked her magic. Immediately, color returned to the tiny baby\u2019s face, and the palms of her hands, which had been red moments before, returned to normal. Her ragged breathing calmed.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Enora took the baby in her arms. The baby opened her eyes. They were golden, revealing her lineage. Enora could feel the raw power flowing through the child, an overwhelming power that had awakened at such a young age.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m surprised this girl is still alive. The power she possesses is overwhelming, capable of destroying the world. That\u2019s why half\u2013breeds are creatures that should not exist, let alone procreate. This girl is proof of that.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Alessandro drew his sword and pointed it at Enora At that same instant, Bleir\u2019s sword rested\u00a0<\/p>\n

against Alessandro\u2019s neck. She hadn\u2019t been close; he wondered how she had gotten there so fast. Bleir\u2019s blade was so sharp that it had cut his skin just by touching it, a trickle of blood running down\u00a0<\/p>\n
his neck.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Seeing that the human intended to defend himself, she said, \u201cI advise you to lower your sword and do nothing stupid if you want to keep your head.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
