He had an ugly wound on his arm,\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>almost severed, Lionel said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe must amputate the arm. The mages were the last resort; if those at the front failed, they would have to sacrifice themselves to keep the city safe, which did not exclude her from this duty.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He gave her a gentle kiss on the lips and said,\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSee you soon, my love.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As Alessandro walked away, Abril felt her heart tighten in her chest. Their swords clashed against the monsters in the front line. Alessandro swung his sword and cut down everything in front of him. Every day they slew\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>countless monsters and enemy soldiers, yet their numbers never seemed to dwindle. Lost in\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>thought, he neglected his right flank. One of the monsters born of darkness with long tentacles\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>tried to pierce him, but upon making contact with his armor, the tentacle of that monster\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>disintegrated.
