\u201cAby, so far you\u2019ve only used your magic unconsciously because you haven\u2019t broken all the seals within you yet. Remove your limiters and concentrate, visualize your power flowing within you.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Abril removed the earrings that served as limiters, closed her eyes, and did what her mother told her until she could feel the flow of her magic. It was as if a lightning bolt suddenly struck her and left her full of power; she could feel something evil, the same sensation she had felt when those monsters born of darkness had attacked the palace. She ran, fearing that Alessandro\u2019s life was in danger. As she ran through the corridors, she encountered Alessandro, who, seeing her so agitated, asked her.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat\u2019s wrong, Aby? Why are you running like that?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Abril touched Alessandro\u2019s face, and she sighed in relief at not feeling anything dark inside\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThank goodness you\u2019re okay.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Just at that moment, Alessandro heard a scream coming from his office; it was Gabriel, who seemed to be in danger.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The guards stationed at the doors drew their swords and rushed in, Alessandro and Abril following shortly after. There was a horrible slimy monster that looked like it came out of the worst nightmare in the office; the guards attacked it, but it was useless. Their weapons could do nothing against that creature. Abril began to attack the monster using her light magic, and the creature retreated, very frightened by the power of the light.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cAlessandro tried to use his magic, wanting to help Abril in defeating that creature, but he couldn\u2019t do it; the pressure of Abril\u2019s magic was such that it completely nullified his magic. He hated being so useless; in the end, she defeated the creature without anyone\u2019s help.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The monster lay on the ground like a black puddle, with a strong and putrid smell. Everyone stood watching her; she approached Gabriel, placed her hand on his shoulder, and used her magic to heal an ugly wound on his forehead. The wound closed and healed instantly. Then she turned to the two guards and asked them.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cAre you okay?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Both nodded.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Alessandro took Abril\u2019s hand and said,\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cLet\u2019s go.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Before leaving the room, Alessandro told Gabriel.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cMove my office to another room and make sure no one else knows what happened here.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Gabriel was still shocked by the monster\u2019s attack; he responded distractedly.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI will, Your Majesty.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Alessandro led Abril by the hand through the palace corridors, out to one of the gardens, and didn\u2019t stop until they were far enough from that place. He pulled her into a tight embrace. He felt completely useless; he was supposed to be the one protecting her, but until that moment, it was she who had been protecting him. He had only been a burden.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m sorry, please forgive me for not being able to protect you as I promised. Right now, the palace is not a safe place; there are too many dangers lurking around every corner. It would be best if you went somewhere else.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Abril knew her departure was already decided, and she had no choice but to leave. She nodded, moved away from Alessandro, and replied, clearly upset,\u00a0<\/p>\n
