That’s obvious,” another voice chimed in immediately. “Everyone knows Riley hates Violet with her life. And she isn’t scared of the psycho couple. She’s not going to just stand by and let this chance slip by. She’ll definitely get Violet in trouble.”

Someone else chimed in, voice dripping with anticipation, “Is this how it ends? Will Nora win again?”

The whole cafeteria hummed with predictions, with people already leaning forward to witness what they thought would be my downfall.

I finally turned to Riley. I kept my expression blank, raising one eyebrow. Riley flinched the moment our eyes met. Her body actually trembled, fingers tightening around the edge of her seat. She wouldn’t even look at me properly.

see m

“Is that so?” I asked lazily. “Did you see me pour the soup over her head on purpose, Riley?”

Before she had the chance to form a single word, Nora scoffed loudly, stepping in with the confidence of someone who thought the world existed to revolve around her. “Why are you even asking her that stupid question? What answer do you expect, Violet? Obviously Riley will take my side. Or do you really think she’s scared of you?”

She stopped right in front of me, eyes narrowed. “Who do you think you are?” she sneered. Her finger jabbed lightly against my chest. “Get off your high horse. You have no one powerful backing you up. Or do you think Matthew will help you? Don’t forget, it’s over between you two. He doesn’t care about you anymore.”

I stared at her blankly, which only made her smirk widen. The fact that she couldn’t pull a reaction out of me irritated her, but she kept going, pushing further just to feel powerful. She leaned in closer, her breath brushing my ear, her voice dropping to a whisper. “Don’t you forget who he let drown. You’re no one to him.”

She pulled back with a satisfied look, expecting her words to affect me. But all I could think was how delusional she was.

Matthew? Was she actually serious? She was boasting like he was the greatest man on earth, bragging about trash as if it were a gemstone. If Nora thought she’d won some kind of prize, she was painfully stupid. I didn’t care about Matthew anymore, not even enough to spare him a fraction of a thought.

Why would I, when I had a man who would burn the world for me?

If Hades Sinclair was a man, Matthew was a toddler stumbling around with plastic toys.

When she realized she still wasn’t getting the reaction she wanted, she clicked her tongue and rolled her eyes dramatically. “I’ve had enough of you,” she spat before turning her attention to Riley “Enough of this. Riley, say it. Tell everyone what Violet did. Let them see that someone still has a backbone.”

Everyone shifted their eyes to Riley, waiting. Nora stood tall, confident, her soup-covered clothes sticking to her but she didn’t care. She thought Riley would do anything to ruin me like she always did. But Riley looked like she was about to faint. She glanced at Nora, then at me, then at the entire room staring at her.

Finally, she sighed and spoke.

“What are you saying, Nora?” Riley said quietly, voice unsteady. “I think you’re mistaken. I didn’t see anything. It was all an accident.”

The room froze.

Nora’s smile died instantly. The cafeteria went so silent someone actually dropped a fork and the sound rang across the

Chapter 138

room.

39

55 vouchers

Nora whipped her head toward Riley. She blinked at her, stunned, as if she hadn’t heard correctly. “What?” Her voice cracked in disbelief.

Riley didn’t even flinch. “I didn’t see anything, Nora. Don’t be dramatic. It was an accident. V-Violet didn’t mean it….”

For a moment, Nora just stood there, mouth open, completely robbed of words. She looked like someone had slapped her across the face in front of the whole school. She shook her head slowly, still staring at Riley with wide, furious eyes. “Impossible, Riley… why would you say that?” Her voice trembled. “Why are you lying? You know she did it on purpose, she poured a fucking bowl of spicy soup on me! You saw it. Why would you-”

Riley cut her off sharply, her face twisting into a glare. “Drop it, Nora. You’re being delusional. No one saw anything. Why are you acting like it’s a big deal? To be honest, if someone should be angry, it should be Violet. Everyone saw you splash water on her. And here you are making a scene over an accident. You’re being a crazy bitch right now.”

“Oh my God!” Someone gasped.

Nora froze completely, her face draining of color, eyes wide and unfocused like her brain couldn’t keep up with what was happening.

Of course Penelope, standing behind me, leaned forward with a bright, mocking smile and said, “Ha, how interesting. Even your friend is calling your bullshit. You are a crazy person, Nora. Why are you causing a scene?”

Nora shook her head desperately, her hands trembling as she looked around the cafeteria. Every single person stared at her, some with pity, others with amusement, and many with satisfaction, like they had been waiting a long time to see her fall.

“No! No! No!” she choked out. “You know I’m right. Stop this. You all saw it, why are you acting like I’m the crazy one?” She turned to Riley again, eyes pleading. “Riley, please. You know what happened. Are you really so scared of her that you’re willing to betray our friendship?”

Riley didn’t look at her. She stared down at her lap, jaw tight, refusing to meet her eyes.

I watched Nora crumble, her confidence collapsing. I felt my lips curl upward into a slow smirk. This expression she wore now was exactly what I wanted to see. It was the reason I didn’t shut the drama down earlier. I wanted her to feel what it was like to stand in front of everyone and realize no one was on her side.

Nora thrived on attention. She was obsessed with being the center of everything, anywhere she walked, she needed people looking at her, admiring her, and envying her. She wanted to be worshipped. That was why she treated people like toys she could break and discard.

So I would take it all from her.

I would take her crown, shatter her pride, and leave her standing there looking like a fool. If attention was what she craved, then I would make sure she had it, but not the type she wanted. I would give her attention that made her wish she stayed invisible.

This was just the beginning.

I

AD

Comment

Send gift

No Ads

Nights Burn With Regret — by Nathan Perez 138 Chapter 138 Chapter 138 Violet 255 vouchers “What do you […]

[83

post-28054","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-craving-the-guardian-novel
["GET
