A man whose hunger knew no end. No matter how many times we did it, Hades Sinclair always wanted more.

89

At this point, it was a miracle I could even walk properly. My legs felt like they didn’t belong to me anymore, they’d gone completely numb sometime between last night and this morning. And yet, there I was, walking as gracefully as I could down the hall, pretending nothing was wrong, because the last thing I needed was for someone to look at me and whisper, “Look at her limping. Just how hard did they go at it?”

Hades Sinclair was a lunatic. A beautiful, maddening lunatic who didn’t know the meaning of restraint.

Last night, he pushed me past my limits, again and again. And just when I thought I could finally breathe, morning came, and he decided once wasn’t enough. This man had the audacity to do it two more times, just as he’d promised, as if he was on a mission to make sure I never forgot who I belonged to.

He’d even wanted to go for a third. I had to stop him, because if I hadn’t, I would still be in bed, unable to move. Which. knowing him, was probably exactly what he wanted. To keep me trapped there, ruined, breathless, and trembling beneath him.

I sighed softly, pressing my lips together. What was I supposed to do with a man like that? We weren’t even married yet, and he was already acting like this. What would he be like once we were married?

I didn’t even want to imagine it.

That man wouldn’t let me go.

I bit down on my lower lip, heat crawling up my neck at the thought. Part of me was nervous, but the other part, well, the other part couldn’t help the way my cheeks flushed with excitement.

Maybe I should make a rule, I thought weakly. Regulate how often we… you know. Maybe limit it to once a day. Or a week. But then again, this was Hades Sinclair. Rules meant nothing to him. If anything, he’d take it as a challenge.

I exhaled and started to take another step when a hand suddenly landed on my head.

I froze, my body locking up in surprise. My gaze flicked upward, and I found Alec standing there, one hand braced protectively between my forehead and the doorframe, his usual calm smile in place.

“Careful,” he said, his tone light. “You can’t hurt yourself, or I’ll have my head cut off.”

I blinked, realizing that I’d been so deep in thought I’d nearly walked straight into the door.

After I pushed Hades away this morning, I tried my best to stand and take a shower. Every step to the bathroom was a battle, but I managed somehow.

The mirror didn’t help. My skin was flushed, my lips swollen, my neck marked with evidence I had no intention of explaining to anyone. After cleaning up and getting dressed, I stepped outside, only to find Alec waiting for me. Hades had told him to drive me wherever I wanted to go.

So I was standing in front of Sebastian’s hospital room, Alec acting like my personal bodyguard, even though his position

was far above that.

I glanced at him. His face was unreadable as always. I couldn’t tell if he was annoyed at having to follow me around like some kind of babysitter.

11:02 Tue, Jan 6 M/.

Chapter 113

“Miss Violet?” Alec’s voice pulled me out of my thoughts.

I blinked. “Oh, right. Sorry.”

He gave a faint smile and inclined his head. “No problem. As long as you’re okay.”

hers

I smiled back before I could stop myself. There it was again, that strange, fluttering feeling in my chest. It always happened when I was near him. I didn’t know what it was, only that it was pleasant.

Alec stepped aside, his hand brushing away from my head, silently giving me space.

I looked at the door, exhaled softly. I really need to stop thinking about Hades Sinclair before I end up injuring myself, I thought, shaking my head at my own ridiculousness before pushing the door open.

Inside, the soft hum of machines and faint smell of antiseptic greeted me. My gaze immediately found Sebastian.

He was awake, sitting upright against the bedframe, his arm stretched out toward the bedside table where a glass of water waited just out of reach. He was muttering under his breath, determined but struggling.

“Almost there,” he mumbled. “A little bit more—”

9

But instead of grabbing the glass, he accidentally pushed it farther away. “Bloody hell,” he groaned, glaring at the cup as if it had personally betrayed him.

I couldn’t hold it in anymore. A laugh burst out of me before I could even try to stop it.

Sebastian froze, his eyes widening as he turned, startled.

“Violet?”

I laughed harder, covering my mouth as tears formed at the corners of my eyes. “You’re still so clumsy. Sebastian.

His face flushed instantly, his ears turning bright red. “Don’t laugh,” he protested, scowling in embarrassment. “I’m not clumsy, I’m still recovering.”

That only made me laugh harder, so hard my chest actually hurt from holding it in. I shook my head and stepped closer to him, reaching for the glass of water he’d been struggling to grab.

“Here you go, little brother,” I said, holding it out to him with a teasing smile. “When you were younger, you also couldn’t get a glass of water for yourself. So, I’m happy to help.”

He gave me a look that was half pout, half glare, his usual expression when I teased him.

“You’re annoying,” he muttered under his breath, but the corner of his mouth twitched just slightly before he took the glass

I laughed softly, settling in the chair beside his bed as he drank. His throat moved with each swallow, and for a moment, I just watched him.

When he finished, he set the glass down carefully on the table and looked up at me. His eyes softened.

“You look less stressed than yesterday,” he said quietly. “I guess resting really did make you more relaxed.”

I swallowed. Resting? If only he knew there was no rest last night. But I didn’t say that, of course. I just smiled, a faint curve of my lips that didn’t reach my eyes. “Yeah… resting helps,”

Sebastian kept watching me, but then his gaze shifted upward. He froze, and something in his expression changed, his brow furrowed slightly, confusion flickering across his features.

I followed his gaze automatically.

11:02 Tue,

Chapter 113

Alec was standing by the door, leaning casually against the wall. His arms were crossed, but his eyes weren’t casual at all, they

were fixed on us.

I turned back to Sebastian, wondering what had caught his attention so sharply. He was still staring at Alec, his lips parting slightly as if he was trying to process something.

“Oh,” I started, breaking the silence awkwardly. “This is Alec. He’s-”

Before I could finish, Sebastian interrupted softly, his voice barely above a whisper.

“Skylar…”

I froze.

Skylar?

My pulse stuttered as confusion twisted through me.
