My chest rose and fell as my eyes swept across the space.

The room felt heavy with tension. Penelope and Kai stood on either side of Sebastian’s bed, silent, their expressions unreadable. I didn’t linger on them, I turned my gaze straight to him.

Sebastian was sitting up slightly, leaning against the bed frame, a glass of water trembling in his hand. His eyes weren’t on me, they were fixed on the far wall, nervous, as if something would devour him the moment he moved.

The sight of the machines attached to his body, the bandage wrapped around his head, and the pale hue of his skin made my chest tighten. He looked weak, exhausted, but he was alive.

“Sebastian…” The word left my mouth in a shaky whisper.

Every head in the room turned toward me. Sebastian froze the second our eyes met, and he slowly smiled.

“Violet,” he said, his voice hoarse.

The sound of my name struck me like a jolt. My lips parted in disbelief, and for a moment, I couldn’t breathe. This wasn’t a dream, he was really awake.

I took a step forward, but my knees gave out before I could reach him.

“Violet!” Penelope and Kai’s voices overlapped, panic lacing their tone as they moved toward me. But before I could hit the floor, strong hands closed around my waist. My body went rigid. I didn’t even need to look. I knew that touch.

Hades Sinclair.

He leaned in close, his breath brushing my ear. “Calm down, princess,” he murmured, his tone low. “Your brother’s not going anywhere.”

I turned my head just slightly, catching Sebastian’s worried gaze over Hades’ shoulder. I nodded, more to reassure him than myself.

Hades helped me stand, steadying me before letting go. My legs still trembled, but I didn’t care. I ran the few steps to Sebastian’s bed and threw my arms around him carefully, afraid to hurt him

“Thank God,” I whispered, clutching him tighter. “Thank God you’re safe. I was so worried, Sebastian… I thought I’d never see you again.”

My voice broke, the words trembling out. “It’s my fault. I should’ve protected you. I should’ve—”

He tried to say something, but I couldn’t stop. The dam finally broke.

All the tears I had held back, the ones I swallowed while watching that video, just to seem strong, finally spilled over. My shoulders trembled as I buried my face into his shoulder, crying freely.

Sebastian’s arms came up slowly, wrapping around me. He began patting my back in careful motions, comforting me.

“It’s not your fault, Violet, I’m sorry for making you worry. I know you must have gone through a lot because of me.”

I pulled back to look at him. His lips curved into a small smile, and he reached for my hand. His fingers were cold, but the warmth in his eyes nearly broke me again.

“Are you okay?” he asked.

Chapter 101

For a moment, I just stared at him, lost for words. Was I okay?

90

Belichers

Why was he asking me that, when he was the one lying here. He was the one who had been bullied, who had fallen from a building, who had barely survived, and yet he was the one worried about me.

As if he could read my thoughts, he chuckled softly. “I know you, Violet. You probably went crazy after hearing what happened to me. And besides…” He tilted his head playfully. “You shouldn’t cry. Crying makes you look really ugly”

I chuckled, wiping my eyes before flicking his hand. “You’re annoying.”

“Ouch,” he hissed dramatically, clutching his hand. “For your information, I’m still very much sick.”

“Don’t be a baby,” I said, my lips curving into a real smile. “I barely touched you.”

He grinned, and for that brief moment, it was like nothing had ever happened.

The door creaked open, and an older doctor stepped in, clipboard in hand. He paused as he saw us, then smiled politely. “You must be his older sister,”

I stood quickly and nodded. “Yes, I am. Is my brother okay?”

“He’s more than okay. You could call it a miracle.”

“A miracle?” I echoed, raising an eyebrow.

“Honestly, we didn’t have much hope he would wake up. And even if he did, we didn’t expect it to be this soon. Your brother is very lucky, miss.”

Lucky.

The word echoed in my head, and almost without thinking, I turned toward the wall, but stopped myself just in time.

The doctor cleared his throat, drawing my attention back. “We’ll still need to monitor his condition closely,” he said. “He’ll have to stay here until we’re sure he’s completely recovered.”

“Thank you so much.”

The doctor nodded, gave me a reassuring smile, and stepped out of the room.

The door clicked shut, and I finally exhaled the breath I hadn’t realized I was holding. Relief washed over me. I didn’t care what it took, or what had to happen after this, my brother was awake. That was all that mattered.

“Hmm… Violet…” Penelope’s hesitant voice pulled me back.

I turned to her. “Yes?”

She smiled, but her fingers fidgeted, and her eyes gave her away, she was nervous.

“I’m really happy that Sebastian is okay,” she said carefully, “but it feels like you’re forgetting something important.”

“Important?” I frowned, confused.

Out of instinct, I looked at Sebastian. He wasn’t looking at me. His eyes were fixed on the far side of the room, at the man leaning against the wall like he owned it.

Sebastian’s expression shifted slightly before he turned back to me. “Who is he?” he asked. “And why do I get this… terrifying aura from him?”

My throat tightened. I followed his gaze.

3090

Chapter 101

Vouchers

Hades was still there, silent, and composed, his arms crossed casually as he watched me. His black shirt clung perfectly to his frame, his dark eyes sharp. A smirk played on his lips, as if he already knew what I was thinking, and he was curious to see if I’d actually say it aloud.

“Violet… why is that demon—” Penelope caught herself, “I mean, that man here?”

The air in the room felt heavier. Everyone was watching me now.

I didn’t answer right away. I took a small step forward, then another, until I was standing directly in front of Hades.

He tilted his head slightly, his eyes glinting with amusement. “Are you going to accept me, princess?” he asked, his tone lazy, and teasing.

I met his gaze steadily, my heart pounding against my ribs. “I made a deal with the devil, remember” I muttered to him. “And I intend to keep my end of the bargain.”

Before anyone could speak, I reached for his hand, the same hand that had once terrified me, and turned back to face the others.

Sebastian’s eyes widened. Penelope’s lips parted. Even Kai looked stunned.

“He’s Hades,” I said. “And I’m going to marry him.”

I

田

AD

Comment

Send gift

No Ads

10:58 Tue, Jan 6

Nights Burn With Regret — by Nathan Perez 101 Chapter 101 Chapter 101 Violet 90 youchers I entered the […]

[83

post-28017","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-craving-the-guardian-novel
["GET
