Natalie liked the color of the dress, for it reminded her of roses. As for the size, the measurements were a perfect fit for her. It was a fitted dress, and the design was more suited to younger people. It didn\u2019t look like the sort of clothing Matilda would usually wear at all.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Why would Lucian buy a dress like that for his mother? Natalie wondered.\u00a0<\/p>\n
No wonder Matilda couldn\u2019t wear it. She probably asked Lucian to return it too.\u00a0<\/p>\n
After exiting the bathroom, Natalie could hear the hum of a hair dryer in the room.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Lucian was sitting by the bed, drying Sarah\u2019s hair. Sarah was a lively girl, and she was laughing and playing with him.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cCome on, stop moving. I\u2019ll be done in a bit,\u201d Lucian said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cLuc, do you even know how to dry hair? My hair is all messed up now.\u201d Sarah shook her head. Her long black hair stuck out in every direction.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cLet me do it.\u201d Natalie walked over to Lucian and held out her hand.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Turning off the hair dryer, Lucian looked up and stared at Natalie.\u00a0<\/p>\n
She had put on the pink dress. The design wasn\u2019t revealing at all, but the fitted size perfectly accentuated her curvy figure.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Natalie had been a housewife for seven years, and her usual outfit consisted of loungewear with an apron on top. Even if she went out, she would just wear a T-shirt and jeans paired with sneakers.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The only time she wore dresses was during certain events held by the Payne family, where it was compulsory for her to attend. Only then would she take some effort into dressing up.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Fortunately, she had exquisite features, and her skin was quite clear. Even if she didn\u2019t put on makeup, she still had that natural beauty about her.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIs\u2026 Is there something on my face?\u201d Natalie felt Lucian\u2019s gaze on her, and she couldn\u2019t help but feel somewhat awkward about it.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cHere.\u201d Lucian handed the hair dryer to Natalie. Then, he lifted Sarah off the bed and grabbed a hair tie from the bedside cabinet. He proceeded to clumsily tie up Sarah\u2019s hair.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Natalie couldn\u2019t help chuckling when she saw the messy ponytail.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cMommy, why are you laughing?\u201d Sarah couldn\u2019t see what she looked like, but she could sense that her mother was laughing\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, it\u2019s nothing.\u201d Covering her mouth, Natalie shook her head. \u201cLucian, I\u2019ll take over.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cUh\u2026 Sure.\u201d Lucian couldn\u2019t even bear to look at what he had done. He picked Sarah up and placed her right in front of Natalie.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He felt that taking care of children was tough work, and that it was even trickier than working overtime or holding meetings.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Some time later, Natalie held Sarah\u2019s hand as the two walked out of the guest room. In her other hand, she carried a large bag filled with their wet clothes.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cLucian, it\u2019s getting late. Sarah and I have to get going,\u201d Natalie said to Lucian, who was in the corridor. \u201cI\u2019ll return the dress after getting it dry-cleaned tomorrow.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s okay. My mom cut the tag, so I can\u2019t return it anymore. No one at home can wear it either, so feel free to keep it if you\u2019d like. If it\u2019s not to your liking, you can just trash it.\u201d Lucian was carrying the white puppy in his arms, and he gently caressed its fur as he spoke.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Sarah broke free of Natalie\u2019s hold and ran up to Lucian before patting the puppy on the head.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cCan I hold it?\u201d Sarah asked in a sweet voice.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s yours in the first place. Go ahead,\u201d Lucian replied.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Natalie wanted Sarah to get going, but she knew that her daughter loved animals, so she was sure that Sarah wouldn\u2019t listen to her.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cSince I\u2019ve helped you two out, don\u2019t you think you should thank me?\u201d Lucian asked, staring straight at Natalie.\u00a0<\/p>\n
