The giant screen cracked, then crashed off the mount. I stood there, chest heaving, fists clenched. I was so pissed I could barely breathe.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>That bastard.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow dare he!\u201d I roared.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHow dare that bastard touch her, kiss her and carry her right in front of me?!\u201d I gripped my hair, yanking hard at the roots as my pulse thundered in my ears. He acted like she was his to take, like I didn\u2019t exist. \u201cDoes he not fear for his life?!\u201d 3\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She left with him. She left me. Violet fucking left me.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I reached for another object to throw, but a scream stopped me.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMatthew!\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I froze, then slowly turned around.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Nora was standing in the doorway, wide-eyed, her face pale, hands trembling at her sides. She looked like she didn\u2019t recognize\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>My grip loosened. The picture frame in my hand slipped and hit the floor.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cM-Matthew-\u201d she whispered, barely audible as her eyes swept over the mess I\u2019d made. \u201cMatthew, w-what is this?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I barely heard her.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe took her right in front of me. And she went. I\u2019m her fucking boyfriend, but she left me for some complete stranger.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I didn\u2019t care how irrational I sounded. I didn\u2019t care that my voice was breaking.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlease, calm down, Matthew,\u201d Nora said gently. \u201cShe broke up with you. You shouldn\u2019t bother yourself with her anymore. If she left with him like that, then maybe she was never in love with you to begin with.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>My head snapped toward her, eyes burning.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo,\u201d I growled. \u201cShe belongs to me. I\u2019m not letting her go.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I brushed past Nora, my shoulder barely grazing hers as I moved toward the hallway. \u201cI\u2019ll find her, and bring her back to me.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAhh!!\u201d Nora\u2019s scream pierced the air.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I spun around. She was clutching her chest with pain. Her knees buckled, and she collapsed to the floor.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>My heart stopped.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNora!\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I was beside her in a second, dropping to my knees and catching her before she could hit the floor. I carried her to the couch, every nerve in my body switching from rage to panic.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNora! Nora, are you okay?!\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Her eyes fluttered open weakly, and she reached for my hand, her ngers icy against my skin.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s\u2026my fault,\u201d she whispered. \u201cEverything that happened tonight, it\u2019s because I came back into your lite.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Tears welled in her eyes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s why your girlfriend hates me\u2026\u201d She sniffled. \u201cIf I didn\u2019t have this heart problem, if I hadn\u2019t come back into your life, you wouldn\u2019t have to go through this.
