A simple bowl of poorly made soup could bring Vanessa such visible joy, while her own efforts seemed to go entirely unnoticed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Standing there, she felt utterly superfluous\u2013a joke no one was laughing at.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She couldn\u2019t take it anymore.
