In that instant, it felt as though her world had transformed from one of utter darkness to one that was filled with vibrant colors.

She took out her phone and deleted everything she had ever saved related to Rowan. Last to go were that man’s phone number and social media contacts.

For the rest of her life, she would live for Sarah.

To celebrate Natalie and Rowan finally getting a divorce, Scarlet took it upon herself to bring Imogen to the Payne residence. Matilda had gone on a short religious retreat, so Scarlet assumed she hadn’t returned yet.

But as she was chatting happily with the family, Matilda suddenly appeared at the doorway of the living room.

“100 million was far too much for her,” Scarlet said. “If that woman hadn’t schemed against Rowan, we wouldn’t have given her a single penny. Fortunately, Rowan is now divorced from that bitch Natalie. With Imogen here to help him, their life will only get better from now on…”

She finished with a loud laugh.

“We’ll have a big feast to celebrate tonight. Congratulations to Rowan for getting rid of that jinx, Natalie, and successfully rekindling his relationship with Imogen.” Selena handed a peeled apple to Imogen, who was sitting on the couch beside her.

Selena Payne was Rowan’s younger sister. She had been living abroad, and Scarlet had called her to tell her that Rowan was going through a divorce. Scarlet had urged Selena to come home when she had time to persuade her brother to divorce Natalie as soon as possible.

She flew back today, and just happened to arrive after the divorce papers were signed.

Selena loved her brother immensely. She supported Rowan wholeheartedly, no matter what decision she made. She knew that Rowan’s marriage to Natalie had been forced by Matilda, and she had always felt that it was unfair to Rowan. Over the past few years, she hadn’t treated Natalie kindly either.

Scarlet sneered. “That little brat, Sarah, bit me. She nearly tore a chunk of flesh off my arm. I hate her so much. Luckily, we didn’t take custody of her. And I even gave Natalie a big ‘divorce gift.’ Just wait, she’ll be crying soon enough.”

“Sarah bit you? Is she a dog or something?” Selena said as she examined Scarlet’s arm with concern.

“Selena, don’t say that about Sarah. If she were a dog, then what would all of you be?” Imogen played the role of the peacemaker. “She is, after all, Rowan’s own flesh and blood.”

At that moment, Logan spotted his mother at the doorway. He choked on the water he had just sipped and began coughing violently.

“Drink slowly,” Scarlet said impatiently, still unaware of Matilda’s presence. “What’s wrong with you? Are you sick?”

“Gra- Mrs. Payne Senior….” Imogen stood up from the couch and greeted her respectfully.

Imogen had wanted to call her “Grandma”, but recalling Matilda’s words from last time, she forcibly changed her address.

“So everyone’s here, and I’m the only one missing?” Matilda walked in, leaning on her cane.

“Didn’t you come back at just the right time? There’s some good gossip to enjoy.”

That comment came from Lucian.

No one knew when he had arrived, but he was holding a plate of sliced apples. As he walked past Matilda, he placed the entire plate into her hands.

“It’s raining outside, and it’s getting dark. Where are you going?” Matilda asked with a frown.

X CLOSE

Chapter 35

“A bunch of poopers ganging up on a biter and still can’t win. This show’s boring. I’m heading out for a drink with my friends,” Lucian replied casually.

Scarlet was utterly confused by what she had just heard.

2/2

X CLOSE

Divorced, Upgraded, and Married Rich

Chapter 35 1/2 Chapter 35 Natalie raised her head and looked up at the sky, taking a deep breath.
