Utterly exhausted, she couldn’t bear to waste another breath on him.

Her self-righteous attitude only served to fuel Vincent’s anger. She was the mother, for heaven’s sake. A nagging unease made him ask, “Sabrina, has Vanessa been getting into any trouble at school?”

Sabrina was the one who handled all of Vanessa’s school related matters. If Scarlett claimed Vanessa was causing trouble, Sabrina would be the one to know.

Sabrina froze for a split second, then let out a light laug. “Vanessa is such a well-behaved child. The teacher who saw him didn’t mention any issues, which further convinced him that Vanessa hadn’t done anything wrong.

In the car, Vanessa was feeling a mix of guilt over the incident at school and unease about her abrupt departure from Theron Manor the other day.
