\u201cIs that okay?\u201d I asked. \u201cWe can wait longer if you want, or we can do it sooner if you\u2019d rather not be showing at all.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cNo,\u201d she said quickly, her hand going to her stomach. \u201cNo, I love that actually, I want to be showing, I want everyone to see that I\u2019m carrying your babies, that we\u2019re already a family.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Something about the way she said that made my chest feel tight in the best way.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cPlus,\u201d she continued. \u201cI want to be married before the babies come, I want them to be born into a family where their parents are committed to each other in every way possible, I want them to have the stability I never had growing up after our parents died.*\u00a0<\/p>\n
I understood that completely, understood the need to give our children something better than what we\u2019d had. Because I wanted the same thing too, just needed to know if she wanted the same thing.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThen four to five months it is,\u201d I said. \u201cThat gives us plenty of time to plan but gets us married before the twins arrive.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cFour to five months,\u201d she echoed, and then her whole face lit up with this enormous smile. \u201cOh my god, we\u2019re getting married in four to\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are,\u201d I confirmed, laughing at her enthusiasm.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI have so much to do,\u201d she said, her mind clearly already racing through everything.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI need to find dresses, two dresses, one for each ceremony, and we need to figure out the venue for the human wedding. The mating ceremony will be in the woods but we need to find the perfect clearing.\u00a0<\/p>\n
And we need to make a guest list, actually we need two guest lists, one for each ceremony, and the flowers, oh god the flowers, what flowers are even in season in four months?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cAthena,\u201d I said, placing my hands on her shoulders. \u201cBreathe.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI am breathing,\u201d she said but she was definitely spiraling a bit.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cRight,\u201d she said, taking a deep breath. \u201cRight, I have help, Sarah and Leah will help me.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cExactly,\u2018 1 said. \u201cAnd we have four months, that\u2019s plenty of time.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIs it though?\u201d she asked. \u201cFour months to plan two weddings seems like not enough time.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s enough,\u201d I assured her. \u201cEspecially with help, and besides, the most important part is already handled.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat part?\u201d she asked.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThe part where you said yes to marrying me,\u201d I said. \u201cEverything else is just details.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
She smiled at that and some of the panic left her eyes. \u201cYou\u2019re right,\u201d she said. \u201cThe important part is that we\u2019re getting married, everything else will work out.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cExactly,\u201d I said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019re going to be terrible at delegating,\u201d I added with a grin. \u201cI can already tell.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cProbably,\u201d she admitted. \u201cBut I\u2019ll try, I promise I\u2019ll try.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s all I ask,\u201d I said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Orion came back into the room then, Sarah right behind him, and they both immediately picked up on Athena\u2019s excitement.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat did we miss?\u201d Orion asked, settling into the armchair and pulling Sarah down onto his lap.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re getting married in four to five months,\u201d Athena announced, practically bouncing with excitement now. \u201cAnd we\u2019re doing both a mating ceremony and a human wedding.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cBoth?\u201d Orion said, his eyebrows shooting up. \u201cThat\u2019s ambitious.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s us,\u201d I said with a shrug. \u201cWe don\u2019t do anything halfway.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Sarah\u2019s face lit up like Christmas had come early. \u201cOh my god that\u2019s so exciting,\u201d she said, turning to look at Orion. \u201cDid you hear that? They\u2019re doing both ceremonies.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
