\u201cI actually don\u2019t mind\u201d she let out a laugh.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI know you don\u2019t\u201d I pulled her close and place a light kiss on her forehead, I didn\u2019t withdraw immediately. I stayed there for a while with my eyes, when I pulled away, I pecked her lips.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cJust watching,\u201d I clarified. \u201cI\u2019m not racing.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cJust watching,\u201d she agreed. \u201cI promise I\u2019ll stay far away from the racing lane, and I won\u2019t try to convince you to let me race.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cNot funny,\u201d I said but I was smiling.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWay too soon,\u201d I confirmed.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cSo is that a yes?\u201d Derek asked. \u201cYou\u2019ll come?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
I looked at Athena who was practically vibrating with excitement beside me, then at Derek and Orion who were both waiting for my\u00a0<\/p>\n
answer.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cFine,\u201d I said. \u201cWe\u2019ll come, but we\u2019re not staying long and Athena stays with me the entire time.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cDeal,\u201d Derek said, grinning. \u201cSaturday night, I\u2019ll be expecting you.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat about me?\u201d Orion asked. \u201cAm I invited?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cOf course,\u201d Derek said. \u201cBring Sarah too if she wants, make it a whole thing.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ll ask her,\u201d Orion said. \u201cThough I\u2019m not sure she\u2019ll want to leave the kids.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

After Derek left, Athena turned to me with that excited look still plastered across her face,\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI can\u2019t believe I\u2019ll be visiting the racing center,\u2018 she said. \u201cI\u2019ve missed it a lot,\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
I groaned. \u201cYou\u2019re going to make me regret this.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cProbably, she agreed cheerfully. \u201cBut you love me anyway.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u2018I do love you,\u201d I confirmed. \u201cGod help me.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
She laughed and kissed me, right there in front of Orion who made a gagging sound.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cGet a room,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe tried that,\u201d Athena said. \u201cYou made us come back downstairs.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s because you were up there for an hour,\u201d Orion said. \u201cWe thought you\u2019d killed each other.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cAlmost,\u201d I said. \u201cBut we worked it out.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cObviously,\u201d Orion said with a knowing look as he stood up, going to meet his wife, I guess.\u00a0<\/p>\n
We settled back into the couch and she shifted to face me more fully, tucking her legs under her, there was something different in her expression now, something softer and more thoughtful that made me curious about what was going through her mind.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cCan I ask you something?\u201d she said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cAnything,\u201d I said, reaching out to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat kind of wedding do you want?\u201d she asked, \u201cLike, have you thought about it at all?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
I had actually been thinking about it quite a bit since I\u2019d proposed, lying awake at night while she slept and imagining what our wedding day would look like.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Imagining her walking toward me, imagining the moment I\u2019d get to call her my wife in front of everyone we knew.\u00a0<\/p>\n
