Nothing.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat do we do?\u201d I asked, panic starting to set in.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe stay calm,\u201d she said, though I could hear the fear in her own voice. \u201cAnd we don\u2019t respond to whoever sent those messages.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Another message came through.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know where you are.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>My heart stopped.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSarah,\u201d I said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI see it,\u201d she said, her face pale.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She stood up and went to the window, peeking through the curtains carefully.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo you see anything?\u201d I asked.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo,\u201d she said. \u201cEverything looks normal.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But normal didn\u2019t mean safe.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I grabbed my phone and tried calling Tristan. Straight to voicemail.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I tried texting him instead.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSomeone is sending me threatening messages. They say they know where we are. Please call me as soon as you can.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I hit send and stared at the screen, willing him to respond.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Nothing.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe should call the pack house,\u201d Sarah said. \u201cLet them know what\u2019s happening.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGood idea,\u201d I said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>1\/4\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She dialed and this time someone answered on the second ring.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSarah?\u201d It was Lucas, one of the pack\u2019s senior members. \u201cIs everything alright?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo,\u201d she said. \u201cSomeone is sending threatening messages to Athena. They say they know where we are.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat?\u201d Lucas said, his voice sharp. \u201cWhat exactly did the messages say?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sarah repeated them word for word and I heard Lucas curse under his breath.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhere are you right now?\u201d he asked.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt Tristan\u2019s house,\u201d Sarah said. \u201cWith Athena and my kids.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLock all the doors and windows,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019m sending guards to your location right now. Don\u2019t open the door for anyone except them. They\u2019ll identify themselves properly.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOkay,\u201d Sarah said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIs Athena there?\u201d he asked. \u201cCan I talk to\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sarah handed me the phone.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLucas?\u201d I said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAthena, listen to me carefully,\u201d he said. \u201cDo you have any weapons in the house?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know,\u201d I said. \u201cMaybe? Tristan might have something.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFind them,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd stay away from the windows. The guards will be there in less than ten minutes.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat about Tristan and Orion?\u201d I asked. \u201cAnd Derek? Do they know about the messages?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re trying to reach them now,\u201d he said. \u201cBut the fight at the border is still ongoing. It was locked, of course, but I knew where he kept the key. I\u2019d seen him open it once before.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I grabbed the key from the drawer of his nightstand and opened the box.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Inside was a gun and several knives.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFound something,\u201d I called to Sarah.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She came into the bedroom and looked at the weapons. \u201cDo you know how to use a gun?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLeah taught me when I trained with her,\u201d I said. \u201cI\u2019m not great but I can manage if I have to.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGood,\u201d she said. \u201cBecause I have no idea.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I checked to make sure the gun was loaded and then we brought everything to the living room.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Another message came through on my phone.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re getting closer.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>My hands started shaking.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhere are those guards?\u201d I asked.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sarah checked her phone. \u201cLucas said less than ten minutes.
