In the end, I\u2019ll have what\u2019s mine, and you\u2019ll have nothing.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>70\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He turned and started for the stairs, but he paused at the bottom, looking back at me. \u2018Don\u2019t try anything stupid,\u201d he said. \u201cYou won\u2019t like what happens if you do.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The door slammed shut behind him, and I was alone again, the silence pressing in around me.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>My body was shaking, my broken wrist throbbing, my face stinging from Seraphine\u2019s slaps and Daxon\u2019s blow. The wolfsbane was still in my system, making my head feel like it was stuffed with cotton, but I couldn\u2019t stop now. I had to keep going, had to find a way out before Tristan walked into their trap.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I looked at the bolt holding my left wrist, the one Seraphine had tightened. It was still solid, but I\u2019d gotten the other one loose, and I could do it again. My right hand was useless, the bones broken, the pain so bad I could barely think, but I had to try.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I reached out with my left hand, my fingers brushing the bolt, and started scraping at the concrete, ignoring the way my nails tore and my fingertips bled.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Hours passed, or maybe it was minutes, time was hard to track in the haze of pain and wolfsbane.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The bolt was starting to loosen, just like the first one, and I could feel it wiggle under my fingers. It wasn\u2019t much, but it was enough to keep me going,\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>enough to give me hope.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I didn\u2019t know how long I had before Daxon or Seraphine came back, but I knew one thing for sure, I wasn\u2019t going to stop fighting.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Not now, not ever. Because no matter what Daxon said, I wasn\u2019t trash and I wasn\u2019t going to let him or Seraphine take everything from me.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Daxon didn\u2019t want me dead for now and that was my advantage. One of us was going to get tired and it wouldn\u2019t be me.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I was going to get out of here and I was going to make sure they paid for what they\u2019d done.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I just needed to break my second wrist, but how? The metal was cutting into my skin but I kept twisting anyway because the pain meant I was still fighting\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>and as long as I was fighting they hadn\u2019t won yet.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I was still focused on what I was doing when I heard a voice behind me and every muscle in my body went rigid.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2018When did you get this stubborn?\u201d I froze as I heard Daxon\u2019s voice behind me.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When did he get here and how had I not heard him coming?
