Rowan\u2019s phone suddenly rang. He glanced at the screen, stood up, and walked aside to take the call.\u00a0<\/p>\n
A few minutes later, he returned to the table and said, \u201cSomething urgent came up at the company. I have to go.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Natalie didn\u2019t even look up and continued helping Sarah with her meal.\u00a0<\/p>\n
She realized she had been completely wrong. A man who cheated would never feel guilty.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cDaddy, are you going to see Ms. Chapman?\u201d Roger jumped down from his chair. \u201cI want to go too.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Even Roger could see through him, yet Rowan really thought Natalie was a fool.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m working late,\u201d Rowan said impatiently. \u201cEat your dinner, then go upstairs to shower and sleep. You still have school tomorrow.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
He rushed out the door without another word.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Roger returned to the dining table and sat down, glaring at Natalie with displeasure as he said, \u201cGrandma said Daddy is divorcing you soon. I\u2019m part of the Payne family; I will never go with you.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Natalie replied coldly. \u201cDon\u2019t worry. Even if you were given to me, I wouldn\u2019t want an ungrateful child like you.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
She had long grown used to Roger\u2019s disrespectful attitude toward her. At first, it had hurt deeply, but over time, her heart had grown numb.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Roger defended Imogen so fiercely that Natalie decided she didn\u2019t want such an ungrateful son.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Roger continued angrily, \u201cBut Grandma also said your divorce agreement asks for custody of Sarah and me. You even want 50 million dollars. You sit at home all day doing nothing, and all the money comes from Daddy. What right do you have to demand that much?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Natalie opened her mouth to respond, but Sarah\u2019s voice cut in sharply.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cGrandma said, Grandma said, Roger! Are you brainless?\u201d Sarah shouted, glaring at him. \u201cMommy worked so hard giving birth to you and raising you. How can you speak to her like that?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cSarah, I\u2019m your older brother! Daddy isn\u2019t home, so I\u2019m in charge. How dare you talk to me that way? You\u2019re asking for trouble-ah!\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Natalie couldn\u2019t hold back any longer. Instinctively, her hand shot out and struck Roger across the face.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cNatalie! You hit me? I\u2019m telling Daddy and Grandma!\u201d Roger cried, clutching his burning cheek as he ran upstairs.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The slap landed on him, but it cut deeper in her heart.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Sarah and Roger were already six years old. This was the first time Natalie had ever struck him. She didn\u2019t regret it. If she didn\u2019t discipline him now, he would only grow more unruly.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Roger was beyond saving. Once she divorced Rowan, they would probably meet only a handful of times in the future.\u00a0<\/p>\n
While Natalie took Sarah upstairs to bathe, her phone buzzed with a message.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Imogen\u2019s text read, \u201cAll it takes is one call from me, and Rowan will come straight to my side.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Below the message was a photo of Rowan showering in a bedroom. Through the semi-transparent bathroom door, the outline of his body was unmistakable.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Natalie typed back, \u201cIf you\u2019re capable, don\u2019t let him come home tonight. Bring me a \u2018gift\u2019 when he comes back tomorrow.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
When Imogen saw the message, she laughed softly while sitting on the bed.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Natalie was truly pathetic. She knew her husband was about to end up in her bed, yet she could still send such a message.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Just then, Rowan stepped out of the bathroom and froze. He saw Imogen wearing a short, red, lacy nightdress, striking a\u00a0<\/p>\n
