Almost everything in there was bought by Beckett. After our wedding, Beckett bought a whole new wardrobe for me. So, everything in there was his. I don’t care what he’d do with it.

I can’t even remember when was the last time I had my own money. I never worked a day in my entire life. When I was young, my parents bought everything for me. And when I get married, it is Beckett who takes care of me.

I was pampered, sheltered, and spoiled by everyone around me. And my situation right now makes me realize that I have never done anything meaningful in my life. Since I turned eighteen, I already set my mind on marrying Beckett and being a good wife to him and a wonderful mother to our children. But now, even that simple dream came out of the window when Sarah went back and claimed what used to be hers. This was probably my karma for stealing Beckett from Sarah and forcing him to marry me.

I’ve enjoyed those three beautiful years I shared with Beckett. Now that my beautiful dream was over, I had no other choice but to wake up and move on with my life.

I blew a loud sigh as I stood outside the gate of our house. I frowned when I looked at the guardhouse and found it empty. That’s odd considering that this house was used to be fully guarded. I pressed the doorbell multiple times, but no one came out to open the gate for me.

“Where the hell are the maids?” I murmured to myself. A couple of minutes passed, and I decided to open the gate myself.

As I walked along the pathway to the main door, I noticed that our garden garage that used to be filled with different luxurious cars was now empty. Did Dad move his car somewhere else?

The house was awfully quiet. I also noticed that most of the lights were turned off as if there was no one inside.

Did they go on a vacation? But why didn’t they tell me? And even if they did go on vacation, there’s usually someone left at home. How the hell did the house seem awfully quiet?

I tried to knock on the front door. But no one answered. I tried to look over the window, but it was so dark that I couldn’t see any sign of anyone inside. I picked up my phone and decided to call them to know what’s going on. I can feel that there’s something that isn’t right here.

I was tapping my shoe as I waited for my mom to answer her phone. It took her a couple of minutes before she finally answered.

“Hi, dearie! Why did you call?” She greeted with an extremely suspicious enthusiasm.

“Am I not allowed to check on my parents?” I asked, frowning.

“Of course you are, dearie.” She sounds nervous. “I’m just quite busy right now. What is it, hon?”

“Where are you?” I asked.

10:23 Thu, Dec 25

Chapter 4

951

“Where else would I be, sweetheart?” That’s the third endearment she uses on me in the span of minutes. She was obviously avoiding answering my question.

“Mom…” I said as a warning.

“Where at the house, you silly!” she replied nervously.

“Mom, I’m at the house, and no one’s here. Where the hell are you? What’s going on?” I’m starting to get worried. I can definitely tell that there’s something wrong going on with my parents.

“Dylan Elizabeth! What are you doing there?” She raised her voice.

“Visiting my parents, obviously. Which apparently are lying to me right now. Would you please tell me what’s going on?” I insisted.

“Dylan, get out of that place right now,” she ordered. I can hear panic in her voice.

“I will. As soon as you tell me what’s going on,” I replied stubbornly as I put my arm on my waist.

However, before my mother could even say another word, I heard a voice behind me.

“Excuse me, miss. You can’t be here. This is private property,” said the man behind me that I don’t recognize. He must be a new caretaker.

I looked at him for a minute before I raised my finger in front of him, telling him to hold on for a minute. “Mom, the guard is here. I’ll call you back.”

“Dylan, wait-”

I cut her off before she could even finish her sentence. I turned to the man to talk to him.

“You must be new here,” I started. “I know this is private property because this is my parent’s house. Now, will you please be a doll and help me with my luggage?”

“Are you a family member?” he continued asking.

“Yes, I’m the daughter of the owner of this house,” I replied irritatedly as his continued interrogation started to annoy me.

“Daughter? You must be mistaken, miss. The Lamberts don’t have a daughter.”

“What Lamberts are you talking about?
