However, the moment I did, Madeline turned around and slapped my hand away. At the same time, Kaylee grunted loudly at me.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The two were glaring at me like they wanted to attack. The jacket lay on the ground.\u00a0<\/p>\n

When I lifted my head from my pants, I watched her leave. She had turned around and started to walk away, so I rushed after her.\u00a0<\/p>\n
As I tried to keep my pace while still fixing my pants, which for some reason would not close properly, my foot got stuck in something, and I fell forward, hitting the floor with a thud.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Everything went silent, and I knew Kaylee had stopped moving because I had fallen. When I raised my head, I realized why it felt like the fall had happened for a reason.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Right in front of me, less than a foot away, stood Madeline. I had fallen at her feet, my nose almost brushing\u00a0<\/p>\n
