With the intention of looking for an avenue to channel my anger and frustration after being forced to witness Leilani\u2019s and Frostclaw\u2019s lovey-doveyness at Time\u2019s square, I decided that I would spend the rest of the evening literally drilling out information from ex Beta Malakai and\u00a0<\/p>\n
his wife.\u00a0<\/p>\n
I however never hoped to bump into anyone, much less Chalice who for some reason had dyed her hair a sharp shade of silver. And God help me, as soon as I saw that, I had a very crazy urge to deny being responsible for her pregnancy.\u00a0<\/p>\n
I know that that must not have come out the right way, so I\u2019ll explain:\u00a0<\/p>\n
I was just embarrassed. Utterly and absolutely\u00a0<\/p>\n

embarrassed to be associated with her. If there\u00a0<\/p>\n
was some word to describe an extreme amount of embarrassment, so severe that I could literally feel my hair falling off my scalp, then that was exactly what I felt.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It was so bad that at some point, I couldn\u2019t help but wonder if I really wanted the mother of my\u00a0<\/p>\n
future kids to be someone like her. Someone so callous and unthinking.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Someone with the inability to comprehend or\u00a0<\/p>\n
make adult decisions.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Her hair contrasted against her smooth pale face, making her appear ghostly\u2026 and I couldn\u2019t help wondering why the color silver looked so hideous on her when it was so beautiful on Leilani.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u2018It\u2019s because one of them is a counterfeit!\u201d My wolf snarled, but I didn\u2019t argue with him. If anything, I agreed with him.\u00a0<\/p>\n

I frowned when she beamed a smile at me, as if\u00a0<\/p>\n

expecting me to commend her for walking around looking like a freaking Leilani 2.0, and after giving her a piece of my mind- which was also not a good piece- I turned away and left, mumbling under my breath;\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cFirst it\u2019s a wig. Now, it\u2019s a dye. Only the heavens know what she\u2019ll do next.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cDon\u2019t forget to take it out.\u201d Zevran hissed, walking away, and in that moment, I turned around to look at Chalice, not missing the way her eyes flashed with contempt and something else. Something darker. My heart skipped a beat.\u00a0<\/p>\n
She turned quickly to face Kael, but even then, I couldn\u2019t help but sense an ominous feeling coiling deep in the base of my stomach.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Something about her felt weird and unsettling\u2026 and trust me, it wasn\u2019t in a good way. Against my best will, I watched her for a while,\u00a0<\/p>\n
eavesdropping on her conversation with Kael,\u00a0<\/p>\n

and as I did, I noticed how her expression kept getting darker\u2026 more calculating\u2026\u00a0<\/p>\n
And knowing Chalice, I knew that she was up to no good.\u00a0<\/p>\n
To her, someone else was to be blamed for all of\u00a0<\/p>\n
her troubles. She never bore responsibility. Never took the blame.\u00a0<\/p>\n
A shudder ran down my spine when she subconsciously fisted her hands into her dress, and from the dark look on her face (or maybe it was due to the half-assed mark we never\u00a0<\/p>\n
consummated on her neck), I knew.\u00a0<\/p>\n
I immediately knew who her next target was, and\u00a0<\/p>\n
I\u2019d rather choke down a whole mountain filled\u00a0<\/p>\n
with molten magma than let her go on with whatever she was planning against her sister, Leilani. 2\u00a0<\/p>\n
Even if it meant going even lower than hell.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A strange surge of anger coursed through me as I slipped into the dark halls of the pack\u2019s dungeon, and as I walked past several stinky cells occupied by criminals, murderers and people of the sort, a series of thoughts began to plague my mind.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Flashes of memories from several years ago filled my head, and now, at this moment, all I could think about was how blind I have been for so long. How oblivious I have been to the things happening all around me.\u00a0<\/p>\n
I could remember how separated Leilani had always been from her family. How different and haggard she\u2019s always looked. She was always dressed in Chalice\u2019s hand-me-downs while\u00a0<\/p>\n
Chalice\u2019s wardrobe was always up to date with the newest collections from Gucci, Chanel, Louis\u00a0<\/p>\n
Vuitton and the likes\u2026\u00a0<\/p>\n
And now, thinking about it, all I could say was: I\u00a0<\/p>\n

Stupid to believe Chalice when she pointed out how her sister who was blinded with jealousy always liked to wear her clothes and never wore\u00a0<\/p>\n

I was stupid to have thought that the same girl who was timid and segregated could have it in her to bully her twin.\u00a0<\/p>\n
And I was the most stipid to not have thought about it when Beta Malakai said the words; \u201cMy only daughter!\u201d on the day he publicly announced our engagement to Chalice.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He\u2019d told us and the world that he only had one daughter-Chalice, and we all never thought to ask him what he meant.\u00a0<\/p>\n
We all never considered the possibility of how\u00a0<\/p>\n
that could be true because the said child had a\u00a0<\/p>\n

found him hunched over a metallic chair with his eyes glinting with malice and his chin set into a stubborn tilt, I knew then and there that this\u00a0<\/p>\n

And frankly, I do not care.\u00a0<\/p>\n
It\u2019s been hours. Two hours to be precise since I started trying to drill out something- anything\u2014 from this old man\u2019s stiff lips, but no matter how hard I tried, he just wouldn\u2019t budge.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Out of respect for him, I\u2019ve been trying to go easy on him but he wasn\u2019t helping matters at all;\u00a0<\/p>\n

His attitude riled me up to no end and my hands trembled in rage as I picked up a pair of silver scissors from the tray of dark weapons spread in front of me.\u00a0<\/p>\n
And as I walked over to him with the cold object burning the tips of my fingers, causing the flesh to sizzle, he flinched.\u00a0<\/p>\n
I saw the horror on his face. Felt the way the smell of his fear permeated the air.\u00a0<\/p>\n
I flashed him a smile- one that I was certain he had seen before- and asked; \u201cWhat is your deal with Leilani?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy do you hate her so much?\u201d I asked, and I saw a conflicted emotion sweep past his face before he suddenly schooled it back into place and then shook his head vehemently.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t hate her,\u201d he cried, his voice trembling, \u201cI just do not like what she stood for.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd what does she stand for?\u201d I asked, and when he wouldn\u2019t respond right away, I began to list off a few things I could think of. \u201cBecause she has different features than the rest of you?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
He shook his head.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause she doesn\u2019t have a wolf?\u201d I continued\u00a0<\/p>\n
but soon stopped and shook my head. \u201cYou know she has a wolf now?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
He seemed to ponder over that then shook his\u00a0<\/p>\n
head. \u201cI don\u2019t care.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
But I had heard the slight trembling in his voice. I\u00a0<\/p>\n

I smiled. \u201cWhy do you not care? Is she not your daughter?\u201d I asked, and as soon as those words slipped past my lips, I could swear that I heard his heart drop. His hands fisted into his sides and his eyes filled with something strange.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Right then and there, I immediately had my answer and my face dropped when I realised where the whole Leilani hate originated from.\u00a0<\/p>\n
I hissed; \u201cShe\u2019s not your daughter.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
It was not a question but a statement, and I wasn\u2019t so surprised when he dropped his head and looked away, silently answering my question.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat about Chalice? Is she your daughter?\u201d I asked quietly, already knowing the answer.\u00a0<\/p>\n
