And the more I thought about it, the less sense it made to me.

My hands balled into fists as I stared at Darius like he had finally lost his mind. Like he was toying with me… but his expression said

otherwise.

Even the stubborn glint in his eyes told me everything I needed to know.

It was true.

He wasn’t faking this.

It was obvious that this wasn’t a joke. That this wasn’t some folklore or a mini version of the

13:15

1/11

movie: Merlin, or even Game of Thrones.

This was real life… my real life.

“If Malakai isn’t my father, then who is?” I asked slowly, as if afraid… as if scared that whatever I was about to learn from his response would alter my entire reality.

He didn’t even turn to look at me. He didn’t even

spare me a glance or seem as affected as I was as he said the words:

“My father.”

As in… his father.

Goddess, he was trying to insinuate that we were related?

And yes, that was believable… especially since we shared some physical attributes and I have always suspected my family of not being my family.

But there was something I still couldn’t wrap my

13:15

2/11

head around. Something that still made me

almost mad just thinking about it. And it was:

First, how could I be related to Darius? Darius of all people?

-And if I was indeed not related to the

Blackthornes, then what the hell is my relationship with Chalice?

What the fuck happened there?

How are we identical twins with different

parents??

These thoughts and several more echoed in my mind, replaying itself over and over again like a video on loop.

My hands shook violently against my steering wheel as I drove. It was sweaty too and clammy, causing it to slip off the wheel continuously, then I would clamp it back down… again and again, only for the process to repeat itself all over again.

13:15

3/11

And goddess, I didn’t know what to think or believe. I couldn’t make sense of how I was related to Darius and Chalice at the same time. ow I was my mother’s daughter but not my

her’s.

And do you know what makes this even harder?

The fact that both of my parents were behind bars as we speak, still paying for hurting me so badly in the past.

Due to the fact that I was lost in my thoughts, I very nearly swerved off the road and hissed loudly when my car moved to the side and hit a trash bag by the road. It came to a stuttering stop shortly afterwards, forcing me to turn back to look at Zevran, who at the moment was still fast asleep in my backseat. His head dropped to his side and his slightly open mouth fell open even

more.

But he didn’t stir.

13:15

4/11

200 Death of me.

He didn’t even blink.

And only the goddess knows what they had done or given to him.

I almost began to worry about him until I heard the almost inaudible sound of his heart beating steadily in his chest; and in annoyance, I hissed and turned away, hating him all over again for coming at an inappropriate time such as this… and hating him more for putting me in such an

uncomfortable situation.

“Stupid son of a bitch!” I cursed him under my breath, but upon remembering how nice his mother had always been to me before she left the pack for a never–ending trip, I shook my head and hissed;

“Nah, he’s the bitch! He’s the bitch!” I cursed, slamming on my brakes as I raced all the way home.

13:15

5/11

Zevran.

I wanted to open my eyes and to tell Leilani that I could hear everything she’s been saying about me… that I had heard most of the conversation she had with that strange Alpha, but I couldn’t bring myself to.

I did not think I could handle the awkwardness

that a conversation like that would cause. So I

pretended to be asleep.

After being knocked out by those lousy Lycans, I realized then from their conversation that my presence was affecting Leilani’s mission there- and not in a good way. So I had pretended to be weaker than was expected and had forced myself to appear limp and unconscious, fooling them into totally forgetting about me.

But for how long could I keep up with that?

Besides, my neck now felt so stiff, I could hardly feel my blood flowing around there at this point.

13:15

6/11

I was snapped out of my thoughts when Leilani’s car stopped moving. Then what I heard next was the sound of the car’s door slamming open then

closed.

Her sweet tantalizing scent hit my nostrils shortly afterwards and I almost moaned in delight when her fingers softly grazed my forehead, then my neck as if checking for my pulse.

Under her breath, I vaguely heard her say the words; “He’s still alive,”

But that was all I heard before her soft breasts

suddenly pressed against my face while she was trying to help me into a sitting position…

And by the gods, my wolf stirred, growling within the confines of my chest.

My body pulsated.

And an electric–like sensation zinged through my

13:15

7/11

body, from my head to my toes.

Gosh, I wanted to tell her to move away… I wanted to be as far away from her as possible due

to how easy it was for her to set my body ablaze without even doing much; But I couldn’t bring myself to speak. I couldn’t move either.

I felt rooted in place,

Mesmerized.

Gosh, this girl sure knows how to set me on fire.

My face burned and I hate to admit this, but I think I am blushing!

Her hands cupped my neck as she tried to keep me upright, and that alone was too much. It sent so much electricity running down my spine that my eyes shot open before I could control myself.

Leilani, who hadn’t been expecting that to happen, stumbled backward and fell into the snow, her eyes thinning into fierce slits as she

13:15

8/11

hissed;

“What was that for?”

And maybe it was because I was still so stunned, or maybe it was something about her beautiful swirling eyes that had me unable to lie or twist the truth, but I found myself saying the first words I could think of. I drawled;

“You… your touch,” then slapping my hands over my face, I added; “Goddess, girl, you’ll be the death of me.” a

1

13:15

Healing Slowly But Surely By R.
