Leilani and I drove for such a very long time that I began to wonder where exactly we were headed.\u00a0<\/p>\n
A couple of minutes had passed with me following at a reasonable distance behind her, and when at some point, she stopped and packed her car, I froze. BecaUSE\u2026\u00a0<\/p>\n
We were almost at the borders of a dangerous pack of Lycans named Shadowvane or shadowstone\u2026 or something along those lines\u00a0<\/p>\n
I watched her quietly as she slipped out of her car, and it wasn\u2019t until this moment that I realized the reason behind her current choice of clothes; it was to help her blend with the darkness. It was to hide her from probable public scrutiny- not like it would help with how out of place she looked.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Her ponytail was too high and her eyes darted around her environment a little too many times.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Goddess, what is she doing? I asked myself but soon got my answer when she cast one last look at her car before walking towards a very very large and high end beautiful hotel building standing tall in this \u2018middle of nowhere\u2019 with the words: \u201cThe continental\u2019 written boldly across the very top of its shiny glass surface,\u00a0<\/p>\n
And despite the worry I felt about seeing her in this strange place, I couldn\u2019t help but notice the way she swerved her hips gently as she walked into the large hotel building. her hair bouncing behind her as she moved.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The sight nearly set my wolf ablaze with desire, but shrugging off those perverted thoughts and reminding myself that she could be in danger, I sighed and waited until she was out of sight before I turned off my car and stepped out too, shuddering when the cold air hit my skin with a vengeance.\u00a0<\/p>\n
I understood that we were still in winter but something about this place felt different. Felt colder\u2026 and in an eerie way. The night was cold with stiff air, and my boots sunk into the snow with each step I took,\u00a0<\/p>\n
When I eventually got to the front of the hotel, I was stunned\u2026\u00a0<\/p>\n
Why?\u00a0<\/p>\n
Because I couldn\u2019t understand how something so luxurious could be found somewhere\u00a0<\/p>\n

so deep into the middle of nowhere\u2026 and how in all my years of existence, I never\u00a0<\/p>\n
knew that this existed.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Despite my attempts at being discreet, the first thing I noticed when I stepped into the hotel lobby was how different I also seemed, and how everyone\u2026 including the hotel staff, turned to give me the side eye.\u00a0<\/p>\n
They would occasionally glance at me from head to toe and then look away; But I didn\u2019t miss the subtle hostility in their gazes or the way they all seemed to watch my every movement like a hawk stalking its prey.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Somewhere more than a few feet away from me, I sighted Leilani sitting alone at a corner. But it wasn\u2019t the fact that she was alone that stuck out to me, it was the group of people closing in on her\u2026 and yet, she doesn\u2019t seem to have noticed them!\u00a0<\/p>\n
My heart raced with panic as I quickly began to march towards her, but just before I could take two strides, two large men materialized out from nowhere and came to stand before me, their eyes glinting with something malicious as one of them spat;\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIs there a problem, young Alpha?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
I froze.\u00a0<\/p>\n
They know who I am\u2026 they could see through me and I could not say the same about\u00a0<\/p>\n
them.\u00a0<\/p>\n
I shook my head slowly as my eyes met theirs and then I tried to sidestep them as I muttered; \u201cNo. I just need to meet with my friend.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cBut our Alpha would like to meet with you too.\u201d One of them- the one who looked like an albino with pale skin and red hair- said to me, but nothing in his voice sounded welcoming, especially not the way his eyes seemed to rove my body with malicious\u00a0<\/p>\n

I sighed. \u201cBut my friend-\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m sorry Alpha, but our Alpha is currently waiting for you\u2026 he\u2019s watching right now as we speak.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Something about those words made my heart skip a beat, and a feeling akin to fear settled at the base of my stomach like a bile.\u00a0<\/p>\n
If my thoughts were true and this hotel belongs to the Alpha of Shadowvane pack, then I was in the den of Lycans not werewolves. Not just that, but the Alpha was rumored to be a dark knight\u2026 and those were one of the few people I and my brothers tried so hard never to cross.\u00a0<\/p>\n

I knew I failed as I could feel the slight tremor in my hands. I could also feel the color draining from my cheeks, and I knew for a fact that I probably looked like an embarrassed old power ranger right now.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cOkay,\u201d I drawled, waiting for these bulky men to lead the way, but they never did.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Instead, all I felt was a slight pinch at the corner of my neck before everything began to feel fuzzy, and before the entire world went black.\u00a0<\/p>\n

My teeth clattered, not just from cold but from the overbearing sense of fear weighing down on my chest like a large boulder.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Earlier today, I had contemplated coming to this strange hotel with Jarek, but upon the realization that Darius probably wants to meet with me alone, I decided to come alone.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He had given me the specific location.\u00a0<\/p>\n
We had picked a date and time.\u00a0<\/p>\n
So why the hell was he not here yet? Why the fuck has he decided to be fashionably late, leaving me in this hotel lobby that feels more like a lion\u2019s den than a recreational spot?\u00a0<\/p>\n
My hands shook as I brought my glass of white wine to my lips but I didn\u2019t take a sip- I was simply pretending to enjoy myself knowing that there were a lot of eyes on me.\u00a0<\/p>\n
After a moment, and after I had finally decided that it was time to leave, I suddenly felt a strange presence behind me and the hairs on the back of my neck stood on end as I spun around, my breath hitching in my chest as I came face to face with a looming figure.\u00a0<\/p>\n
But it wasn\u2019t his size that scared me the most. It was his eyes\u2026 purple and electric.\u00a0<\/p>\n
