However, due to how

suspicious I was, I had only walked a short distance before I turned around and quietly watched the bodyguard lift Chalice into his arms and walk away hurriedly; But if there was one thing I didn’t miss, it was the way they both seemed so familiar with each other.

It was how Chalice had blatantly refused his services at first, only to switch up so suddenly, it felt surreal.

16:55

1/12

100 Worse than death

I turned briefly to the guard standing not so far off from me, and guarding the dining area. I ordered; “Keep an eye on both of them.”

For a second, the young soldier seemed so shocked that I would talk to him. His eyes

widened for a second and then he dropped his gaze, quite unable to meet my eyes anymore. He muttered; “Yes, Alpha”

“And make sure to give me reports every single day. If you see anything out of the ordinary, then make sure to make a video or something for proper documentation. Too familiar. His gaze fell under my intense scrutiny; But deciding to let this go… at least for now, I

16:55

2/12

196 Worse than death.

asked;

“What is your name?”

He gulped. “Jon.”@

Jon.

Jon.

That also sounded familiar. But shrugging the thought off my mind, I walked away, returning to the dining area where I sat back down between my brothers; and funny enough, they didn’t seem so surprised that Chalice didn’t return with me.

If anything, they looked visibly relieved.

Uncle Damien’s eyes flashed when I walked in. He cleared his throat, flashed a grin at his son and set his fork down, his eyes not once leaving my face as he asked;

“Where’s the lady?”

I know what he meant. Everyone’s eyes turned to my brothers and I skeptically, as if afraid that we would go off on him; And even though I wasn’t mad at his choice of words per say, I was mad that he had the audacity to say it right in our faces.

I was pissed that he had the effrontery to look smug, as if savoring this very tiny win.

“Cat got your tongue? But was I still satisfied?

No. Of course not.

My eyes met his then, and only the goddess knew what he saw because then he shrunk deeper into his chair, his face contorted into a look of fear, wincing in pain as his lower lip trembled.

16:55

5/12

196 Worse than death.

“I’m… I’m sorry!” He cried loudly, but I ignored him. God, I felt possessed.

Twisting the metal deeper, I spat; “She’s your Luna and everyone else’s. Now. It was my turn to be smug. It was my turn to smile sadistically at their plight.

Micah dropped his gaze and whispered so lowly, his usually loud voice almost passing for a whisper as he said; “Please,”

“Be a little more audible.” I hissed.

My eyes snagged on my brothers’ and I noticed the pleased looks on their faces. That spurred m on. And to further drive Micah and his father crazy, I pushed the fork deeper into his skin, not flinching even as I heard the sounds of bones breaking and of splitting flesh.

“Please…!” Micah screamed, and this time, I stopped.

I didn’t even give Uncle Damien a chance to recover as I immediately pulled the blade out of his skin, smiling softly when his anguished screams filled the air.

16:55

7/12

196 Worse than death.

He let out a long string of profanities from his lips but smartly, none of those were directed at me. And satisfactorily, I turned away.

“I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again; our Luna is to be accorded with just the same amount of respect as you would accord my brothers and I. She was still so breathtaking even though most of her features were hidden behind her clothes… and my wolf, the bastard growled in desire at the sight of her.

As soon as she got out, her smell immediately hit my nostrils, and I guess she felt the same way because then she also stopped abruptly and glanced around, as if looking for something before quickly slipping into her car.

I frowned.

One, because she was dressed suspiciously, and two because she was acting suspiciously.

I knew that I should let her be, that I shouldn’t follow her around like a pervert. Goddess, she had told me and my brothers times without number to stay away from her; But no matter

16:55

10/12

<

196 Worse than death.

how hard I tried, I couldn’t help but notice how difficult it was for me to be away from her… how as good as impossible it was to not be worried

about her.

Especially now that it looked like she was driving headfirst into some sort of danger.

Hell, there was not a second in a day that I did not think about her; And for this reason, I leaned into my chair, watching her quietly as she drove off into the distance. My heart pounded wildly against my chest in anticipation as I also turned on my car and followed a few metres away from her, maintaining a safe distance from her to ensure that she doesn’t catch me in the act.

Because only the heavens knew who she was going to meet or why she had decided to go this late into the night; But I’d rather die protecting her than lose her again… and worse, to death.

16:55

Healing Slowly But Surely By R.
