How relaxed it seemed… and hell, I no longer had that irresistible urge to murder someone.

“Leilani?” I called out softly into the dark room, and to my surprise, when the lights came on, she was standing there dressed in black leather pants and a white and black fur coat. Her hair was styled into a high ponytail, causing her striking purple eyes to gleam under the pale lights.

And fuck, she was beautiful.. she is beautiful.

So so beautiful, I almost began to think that this was another one of my dreams.

I watched her quietly as she made her way to a chair close by and sat into it, her eyes never for once leaving my face as she muttered;

“I heard you’re awake.”

“And you’re here…” It wasn’t a question, it was a statement. But her eyes were nothing like the way she sounded. They were cold. Hard, and devoid off any emotion.

“You’re welcome,” I answered after a moment of pause, “…but just so you know, I’ll do it over and over again as long as you get to be safe.”

At my words, she went silent. Probably not because she didn’t want to speak, but because she had no idea what to say to me. I didn’t even know exactly what I wanted her to say to me.

My hands shot out, as if to touch her and my heart sank into the base of my stomach when she reflexively shrunk deeper into her hair, successfully causing the small smile on my face to disappear. I drawled; “I’m sorry

“What for?” She asked,

“For trying to touch you.” I answered and then looked away.

14:34

3/6

<

184 Our weakness.

Goddess, I was frustrated. I asked, half expecting her to not respond like she usually does.

“If I tell you that I am in love with you, will you ever believe me?” I continued, and as soon as I asked that, I heard her breath hitch.

it

She froze too, her expression becoming even more stony than it already was, and it felt as though my heart had stopped beating in that moment.

She didn’t even get to think about my words. She didn’t even seem to hesitate as she quickly rose to her feet and whispered;

“No.”

“Leilan-”

“And I don’t want you to say that to me ever again.” She continued, interrupting me without a second’s hesitation.

Her open rejection stung so bad, I felt tears burn at the corners of my eyes. But was I

mad at her?

Hell no. I wasn’t.

If I was mad at anyone, then it was me. I was mad at me for letting her go. For hurting her. For losing her.

And I would do anything— including taking more silver bullets—just to win her back. Just to let her know how sorry I was.

I opened my mouth to speak, but just as the words tried to make their way out of my throat, they stuck when I saw the person standing behind my door and staring into the room like some crazed possessed demon.

However, what stuck out to me the most was the fact that his eyes weren’t on me. They were on her.

I frowned and whispered under my breath. “Micah.”

He raised his head then and flashed me a smile, more like snarl and turned to Leilani, his voice soft and sweet as he asked; “And who’s the beautiful lady with you?”

“Leilani,” I answered coldly, “…and she’s not for you.”

“I never said she was.” He answered, but from the look on his face, I could immediately

14:34

4/6

<

184 Our weakness.

guess what he was thinking.

He was eyefucking her.

He was literally trying to see through her clothes.

And if he had overheard my last words to her then I knew what twisted thoughts he may have now. He probably knows that she is my weakness- our weakness- and may he be damned if he ever tries to use her against us.

Goddess, I could literally kill him for that and spend the rest of my days in Pegasus.
