Joseph 177

177 Anything at all.

Jarek.

There were voices in my head. Voices I couldn’t control that whispered dark twisted nonsenses into my mind.

They told me that I needed to inflict the woman before me with so much pain. That I ought to strangle her once and for all to keep her from ever causing troubles for my Leilani.

I knew that it was my feral wolf speaking so I clenched my hands into tight fists as I glared hard at Keisha, whilst waiting for her to jolt awake as soon as the electric current seeps

into her bones.

Orion, from behind me, suddenly turned on the switch and as soon as he did, her loud scream cut through the quiet air, causing my heart to swell with a twisted kind of satisfaction. She threw her head back, groaning, but when her eyes landed on my face, a sure slow smile slowly spread across her lips, almost splitting her face into two.

She purred; “Jarekkkk?”

But I hated the way she called my name. I hated the way she looked at me like I was a piece of mouthwatering snack. I hated her face, her voice, her eyes.

And I hated the fact that she had tried to hurt my Leilani.

For the past few days, I have tried all I could not to come here. I have tried as much as I could to be as far away from this dungeon as possible.

Why?

Because I had no idea what I’d do to her if I had come when Leilani was still struggling between life and death. And strangely, Leilani was fine now. She was out of danger and the hospital altogether, but I still couldn’t control myself from wanting to hurt Keisha so badly.

I spat; “Keisha.”

At the sound of her name, she closed her eyes and let out a breathy moan, whilst tilting her head back to expose her neck.

It was a gesture of surrender, but not the usual kind you’d think it was. This wasn’t her acknowledging the fact that I was superior to her, it was her acknowledging that we

09:50

A 1/4

<

177 Anything at all.

were mates- or used to be one… mates to mate. Mates to fuck.

I scrunched up my nose in disgust and took a step back. Goddess, I wasn’t anywhere close to her but I’d hate it if she contaminated my clothes and skin.

Her eyes flew open when she heard me take a step back and then they widened. “You don’t want me?”

“No, I don’t.” I seethed. “I only want to know why you tried to attack Leilani.”

At the mention of Leilani’s name, her face fell. She shrugged dismissively and turned away, but I didn’t miss the tears now pooling at the corners of her eyes or the way her hands began to tremble slightly.

“That girl is a freak.”

“Says you who is also a freak.” I spat back. “At least, she doesn’t go around causing mayhem, but you do. So tell me, who’s the bigger freak?”

She recoiled as if physically struck by my words and then she lowered her eyes, sighing as she whispered; “She’s a worse freak than I am, Jarek. Goddess, she wasn’t

even easily taken down by silver and wolfsbane, forcing me to give her more shots until

11

“I don’t think you’re getting me, Keisha. She’s none of your business and I am ordering you- not asking you- to stay away from her.

Again she stopped talking, and this time, when tears poured down her face, I didn’t care one bit. I didn’t even budge when her hands shot out to grab me. She whispered; “Please. Please stay away from her. She’s trouble and the only thing she would do is create more chaos in your life!”

More than the one you created?

I squeezed my eyes shut at her words, and upon realizing how frugal it was to have a reasonable conversation with her, I slowly let out a deep breath. “Keisha,” I growled, smirking when her head snapped in my direction with an unreal speed.

I knew she couldn’t go against me now, not when I had decided to use my Alpha voice.

I continued; “If you do not listen to me, I’ll kill Grace and I’ll kill your stupid baby daddy, Gerald. Do you hear me?!”

I didn’t mean to do that. Hell, I could never kill a child, but I had to threaten her with something she loved dearly. Something that would make her back off. For a moment, she went silent. And then her eyes lit up like lights on a Christmas tree. She struggled

09:50

2/4

<

177 Anything at all.

against the silver chains until she was sitting upright and then she stared me straight

in the eyes and drawled;

“Kill them.

I froze, stunned. “Huh?”

“I want you to kill them, if that means I get to end up with you.”

Her words shocked me so much, I could barely believe my ears. First came frustration then anger… and then it ended, morphing into a feeling of disgust.

Disgust that she would even consider it. Disgust that she seemed so unfazed after being threatened with her daughter.

I heard someone scoff behind me and I didn’t even need to check to know that it was

Orion. And usually, while this scenario would’ve been something he would have found funny, he didn’t. Instead he turned away and began to pace behind me.

I seethed; “No, Keisha. No, we’re done. So I order you to leave my life and the pack. Henceforth, you’re considered a rogue and I’m breaking all the ties you have left with the Frostclaw pack. If your mother wishes to go with you, then she’s free. Okay?”

Her knees crashed against the floor, taking the heavy electric chair she was chained to with her as she fell and she bowed, whilst muttering; “okay,” over and over again under

her breath.

I knew that she was against it. I could see it in the stubborn set of her chin. But she could hardly resist my voice- half Lycan or not.

I turned away from her pathetic form and stepped out of the cell, not forgetting to order Orion before I left.

I snarled; “Torture her a few more times and increase the voltage of the chair too. Do that for a couple more hours before you let her go, and ensure that she’s escorted out of this pack as she’s no longer one of us.” 2

The loud cry that tore out from Keisha’s throat showed just how wrecked she was from

the sentence I’d dealt her with.

She cried loudly, begging me to stay and swearing that she’ll be good; But I was done with her. I’ve been done with her for so long.

09:50

3/4

Healing Slowly But Surely By R.
