Joseph 166<\/h1>\n<p>166 Trust me, baby girl.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>We both answered in uniform; \u201cNO!\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u2013\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen who\u2019s in there?\u201d She snarled, but the more I heard her speak, the more annoyed\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I became.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>My hands balled into tight fists as I glared right back at her, my anger peaking when she tried to brush past me into the room.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChalice, I say\u2026 step back!\u201d I growled, not realizing that I had used my Alpha voice on\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>her.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>My eyes widened when she took a step back with trembling legs and then fell to her knees. When her eyes met mine in that moment, I didn\u2019t miss the rebellion in them\u2026 the anger and the embarrassment. But I was too annoyed to care.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKael, do you realize that I am your Luna and that this is a public space?\u201d She asked tearily. 2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I shrugged. \u201cAnd you should\u2019ve known that before trying to defile my orders in the said public.\u201d I seethed, baring my teeth at her.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And as soon as I said that, her bottom lips trembled. She ducked her head and began to cry. But knowing her, I knew that this was all a ploy. It was her way of garnering sympathy from me\u2026 because I\u2019m certain as hell that she wasn\u2019t putting on this show for Zevran, who we all knew doesn\u2019t care one bit about her.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When our altercation began to draw the attention of other people around us, I begrudgingly took her hands and helped her to her feet, my voice low but cutting as I whispered into her ear;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNever do this again.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have no idea what you\u2019re talking about. She rasped.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She tried to sound fearless but I heard the tremor in her voice. I could hear the steady thumping of her heart\u2026 and hell, I even smelled her fear.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Deciding that she wasn\u2019t as afraid as I wanted her to be yet, I answered; \u201cThen trust me, baby girl. You\u2019ll know soon.\u201d I drawled, and with a colder voice, I added; \u201cOr should I call\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>you Candy instead? Seeing as you hate the nickname with a passion.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She froze.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Good.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>14:42\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>4\/6\/\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>166 Trust me, baby girl.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I was just about to walk away when I saw Zevran lean close to her- so close that his lips brushed against the shell of her ear, making her tremble slightly. His fingers played with a few strands of her hair as he whispered quietly- but I heard him.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He said; \u201cI think the name \u2018Candy\u2019 suits you. Maybe we should start calling you that. But first, I\u2019d love to know why you hate it.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The look on Chalice\u2019s face was priceless. In fact, all I felt was rage.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I knew that it had to be her!\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>God, she was the only reason they\u2019d treat me the way they did earlier, and it was annoying because they were mine now. They were married to me now, yet surprisingly, she still had them wrapped around her little finger.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>-And to make matters worse, none of them tried to make love to me anymore. They treated me like I had the plague. That I should walk out of here and never come back; but I couldn\u2019t bring myself to do that.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Goddess, I felt betrayed and hurt.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And due to this feeling, I slipped further into the room and shut the door behind me.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I tiptoed close to the bed and upon the realization that she was still sleeping soundly, I turned towards the several machines connected to her body and began to look for\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>just anyone that appeared even remotely important.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Anyone that would affect her terribly- or even kill her- if I cut off whatever it supplied. 2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But I didn\u2019t understand anything here.
