Just as I thought these things, Caelum walked over, looking good in an unbuttoned flowery shirt and free white pants. He walked barefoot,\u00a0<\/p>\n

and I froze for a second before turning to face Zevran who had the iciest stoniest expression on his face. \u201cI don\u2019t know what happened to her but I heard from\u00a0<\/p>\n
Gavin that she\u2019s been hospitalized.\u201d He added, and as soon as that bombshell landed, I stilled.\u00a0<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve never felt her pain or anything of the sort, so I couldn\u2019t help but wonder why I was feeling it now all of a sudden.\u00a0<\/p>\n
My hands shook as I stumbled closer to Zevran, my voice trembling as I asked; \u201cSince when?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cSince yesterday, apparently!\u201d He answered coldly. \u201cGavin doesn\u2019t know everything, the little he knows came from a girl named Maya.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Just as I was about to respond to that, the sound of feet hitting the grass seeped into my ears and I turned just in time to see Chalice stomping over, a worried expression on her face.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cLeilani filed a lawsuit against my parents!\u201d She cried, and as soon as I heard those words, my blood boiled.\u00a0<\/p>\n

gritted my teeth to stop from lashing out at her, but my frown soon turned into a grimace then a smile when Caelum snickered;\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWhy are you mad? It\u2019s not like she\u2019s lying against them. They\u2019re guilty of everything she accused them of.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Zevran snorted at that, but Caelum, probably looking for an avenue to channel his rage, continued;\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI heard about it. She accused them of battery, emotional and physical abuse, and neglect. Are those not real? Didn\u2019t you people, just like us, really hurt her like that?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cShe\u2019s sued us for our own crimes and won, y\u2019all can get your asses sued as well.\u201d Zevran added, and with a small glint in his eyes, he dropped his voice and drawled; \u201c\u2026and trust me, she\u2019ll win.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Chalice\u2019s face colored a bright red. She covered her face with her hands and began to weep, but\u00a0<\/p>\n

And seizing the opportunity, she wrapped her arms around my waist, sobbing quietly while Zevran and Caelum could only hang around us in annoyance, their irritation evident in their eyes.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Shortly afterwards, I got a text from mother, inviting us to Father\u2019s private meeting room and upon arrival, I wasn\u2019t so surprised when we realized that Micah and his father were already present, along with some other people.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Our family\u2019s lawyer was seated at a far end, his\u00a0<\/p>\n
