Joseph 153<\/h1>\n<p>Zevran.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The wind blew strongly, raising some cloud of dust into the air as we all gathered outside, close to the freshly dug out grave.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>My\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>hands balled into fists as I watched numbly while the priest led Father\u2019s funeral rites, but as the event proceeded, I couldn\u2019t help but feel sharp eyes on me, drilling holes into my skin and causing weird prickly goosebumps to erupt at the back of my neck.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I turned briefly in the direction where my\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>discomfort was coming from and frowned slightly when my eyes met Micah\u2019s. His lips curved into a smug smile when he caught me watching, but deciding that the last thing I wanted to do right now is indulge him, I turned away and closed my eyes, wrapping my arms around mother who\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>12:53\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>1\/13\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&lt;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>153 Last Resolve.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>leaned slightly into me.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A few minutes later, the procession came to an end and father was slowly lowered into the ground. Mother too left my side to exchange some words with the guests present, and I turned to my brothers, my eyes rolling when I saw Kael standing beside Chalice with his arm wrapped around her waist.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I walked over to them, not missing the way Micah continued to watch me carefully, and when I arrived, I tucked a stray hair behind Chalice\u2019s ear and turned to Kael.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen do we leave this place?\u201d I asked irritatedly.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Caelum, on the other hand, joined in then. He looked just as irritated as I was with slightly swollen eyes. When his eyes met Chalice, all he did was smile and then hissed; \u201cCan we leave\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>now?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy?\u201d Kael asked, \u201cIt\u2019s our father\u2019s funeral and\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>12:53\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>2\/13\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>153 Last Resolve.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>we cannot simply walk away when there are still so many guests around.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe could say we\u2019re mourning silently.\u201d Caelum snapped, \u201c\u2026moreover I can\u2019t keep putting on a show for people who I don\u2019t even know anything about.\u201d He added, his eyes intentionally dropping to Kael\u2019s hand still wrapped around Chalice\u2019s waist as he spoke.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Kael was just about to respond when however, an unfamiliar presence joined us. My eyes thinned as I turned around to glare at Micah who simply smirked and drawled; \u201cCousins\u2026!\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMicah.\u201d Kael answered, his tone flat. \u201cIs there anything you want us to do for you?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>His eyes moved from our faces to Chalice\u2019s where he paused and smiled so bright, I became irritated. He curtsied; \u201cMy lady.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019s Luna now,\u201d I was the one who said that, and as soon as I did, my mouth instantly tasted bitter,\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>12:53\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>3\/13\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>153 Last Resolve.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>especially when Chalice began to fan her face exaggeratedly, her cheeks flushing as she\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>murmured;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a pleasure to meet you, Mr\u2026\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Micah\u2019s brows raised. \u201cStone, but since we\u2019re family, you can simply call me Micah.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would\u2019ve agreed to do that\u2026\u201d she sassed, lifting her chin slowly until her eyes met his defiantly, \u201c.. but the first thing you called me today was \u2018Bitch\u2019. So thank you for offering, but we\u2019re not family.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The smile on Micah\u2019s face never faltered even as\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>she openly accused him. And I knew that this egoistic bastard would never apologize until\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>forced to.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I pushed past Chalice to stand before Micah and with all pleasantness washed completely off my face, I snarled; \u201cYou should apologize for speaking to your Luna that way.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>12:53 @\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>4\/13\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He frowned. \u201cBut-\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t care what your reasons for doing it were.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She\u2019s our wife. She\u2019s the woman we chose and\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>henceforth, she\u2019s your Luna as well, and you ought to apologize.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWill you ask the entire pack to apologize too?\u201d He sneered, \u201c\u2026you know, a lot of people have said worse behind her back!\u201d He added stubbornly, causing some people around to turn to us.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But I didn\u2019t care about the attention.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>All I cared about was a way to push the narrative that we had fully accepted Chalice to the public.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>My hands shot out to grab his collar before I could help myself, and just then, Caelum, the power hungry bunny, growled in his Alpha voice; \u201cApologize!\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I watched in satisfaction as his face crumbled. A frown creased his forehead as he dropped to his knees, his voice trembling as he seethed;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m sorry.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou should direct the apology to the lady.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m sorry, Ms Chalice.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019s your Luna.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m sorry, Luna.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>His body shook as he spoke, and by the time he finished speaking, I turned to Kael who had been quiet the entire time but had a proud smile on his face, and asked;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAre you satisfied with his apology?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Kael nodded. \u201cYes,\u201d then with a flick of his wrist, he added; \u201cyou can go\u2026 but first, always remember to respect our Luna. I don\u2019t care what you or the others in the pack think about her. With wobbly knees, he rose to his feet and turned away, but not before I heard him say something that instantly made my blood boil under his breath.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He sneered; \u201cWait until tomorrow when the will\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>is read.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But I didn\u2019t stop him. I didn\u2019t even say a word to him nor my brothers because I knew that he was delusional, and giving him the attention he craved for simply meant giving him the power to get under our skins.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>We turned and left the open field and headed into the house, and while we went, Chalice clung to Kael\u2019s arm like a handbag.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>However, as soon as we arrived at the private wing, Kael, let go of Chalice and stepped away from her, his eyes icy as he snapped;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>12:53\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>7\/13\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>153 Last Resolve.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re done here.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut Kael\u2026\u201d she cried in that small whiny voice\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>that usually manages to annoy the hell out of me. \u201cWe\u2019re-\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe room behind you is yours,\u201d Kael snapped, ignoring her. \u201cGo in.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCan I-?\u201d She began to say but before she could finish, he held up his hands and snarled;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt seems to me that you\u2019re forgotten all we talked about before embarking on this trip. And if you\u2019ve forgotten, I\u2019ll be glad to remind you. In public, we\u2019ll act like a couple but in private, you\u2019re to be as far away from me as possible.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut you fought for me back there!\u201d She cried and as soon as she did, I had this irresistible urge to laugh. 2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes, that\u2019s because to everyone, you\u2019re our Luna. Now, leave our sight.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOkay, Kael.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNext time, you say; Alpha Kael\u2026 now, scram!\u201d He spat, and with that, she rushed into the room behind her, crying as she went.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>My eyes met my brothers\u2019 in that fleeting second, and while Caelum looked like he was about to\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>smile, I didn\u2019t feel anything.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>12:54\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>9\/13\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>153 Last Resolve.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I was simply mad.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mad that we had to keep faking this thing with Chalice.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mad that I was here.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And mad at the stupid words that Micah had said earlier.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I simply wanted tomorrow to come as fast as possible, and maybe by then, we\u2019ll be done with this madness once and for all.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I turned to walk away from my brothers but as soon as I took the first step, I got a notification on my phone. Sighing, I fished it out of my pocket and frowned when I saw that it was an email from\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Frostclaw.Inc.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It read:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Dear Alpha Stormborn,\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Thank you for your expression of interest.
