Joseph 123<\/h1>\n<p>123 Chalice\u2019s nickname.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Leilani.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>1\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The weather was somewhat colder today when I \u2013 we stepped out of the house and got into Jarek\u2019s car, and maybe it was due to my shivering but Maya wrapped her arms around my shoulder protectively, her warmth seeping through my thick coat as we marched through my\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>snow-covered lawn.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The drive was to the hospital was quiet, save for Maya\u2019s continuous chatter filling the car and as soon as we got off the car in our arrival at the hospital\u2019s parking lot, I nearly halted in my tracks when I was met with familiar pairs of hostile blue eyes- my birth mother\u2019s, father\u2019s, Chalice\u2019s and Gavin\u2019s; And while their gazes held nothing but contempt for me- well, besides Gavin who was openly ogling at Maya- I could barely return it.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>16:32\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>1\/12\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&lt;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>123 Chalice\u2019s nickname.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat is she doing here?\u201d I heard my father ask,\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>his tone dripping with disdain; and while that should\u2019ve not bothered me, it did\u2026 a little.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It just went far to show how deep his contempt for me ran.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>My eyes met his just as Chalice muttered; \u201cShe\u2019s here to see Kael,\u201d and I saw his frown deepen.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But gone were the days where I feared him. Now, to me, he was nothing more than a shitty man who couldn\u2019t handle his family.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Nor me.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>So I glanced away from him and his pathetic little family, my gaze hardening so much that I saw panic fleet into their eyes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But I didn\u2019t care. I just wanted to be out of here.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I wanted to be as far as possible away from these crazy people!\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>16:32\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>2\/12\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>123 Chalice\u2019s nickname.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When we got into an elevator moments later, I couldn\u2019t help but notice the bright shade of red now staining Maya\u2019s face. She looked flushed as hell and pale, and instinctively knowing that it had everything to do with Gavin, I sighed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Because goddess, I hated that she was stuck between both of us.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But what I hated most was how the moon goddess, probably wanting to have fun, had decided to pair the two together.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>We quietly continued our trek to Kael\u2019s ward, and as we did, my heart soon began to race. My chest felt heavy. My breathing too was labored. I wondered if I really wanted to be here\u2026 if I really wanted to help him. But putting these thoughts away, I continued to walk in silence.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Hades, I was nervous.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>My face was also sweaty despite the cold, and my palms were clammy. As if noticing my discomfort,\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>16:32\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>3\/12\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>123 Chalice\u2019s nickname.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Jay held my hand all through, squeezing it at intervals as if to say; \u201cI\u2019ve got you,\u201d especially when it began to shake.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>We stopped right in front of the room when we ran into Caelum whose eyes were fixed pointedly at mine and Jay\u2019s clasped hand.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He seethed; \u201cYou came.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>His voice was tinged with\u2026 jealousy; And because it was not a question I wanted to respond to- and even if it was, Caelum was not someone I wanted to be talking to- I subconsciously held Jay\u2019s hand tighter as I drawled;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes, I did. So if you don\u2019t mind, excuse me. I only have ten minutes to spend here.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>1\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>His eyes darkened at my words and his nostrils flared. For a very brief moment, he looked like he was about to say something nasty to me, but before the words would come out, his eyes shifted from my face to Jarek\u2019s and he gulped,\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>16:32\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>4\/12\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&lt;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>123 Chalice\u2019s nickname.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>whilst moving away.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNevermind.\u201d He spat.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I instantly felt the urge to remind him that I was indeed \u2018never going to mind\u2019, but biting on my\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>tongue, I held back and turned to Maya and Jay. I whispered;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet\u2019s go.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo, we\u2019ll wait here.\u201d Jarek answered stiffly, his eyes fixated on an uncomfortable-looking Caelum. I turned to frown at him but said nothing as I let go of his hand and walked in, my eyes widening slightly when I saw Zevran leaving against the bed, his eyes sunken as he held onto Kael\u2019s hand.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When he saw he approach, he quickly straightened up and drawled; \u201cThank you for coming.\u201d He said, but I didn\u2019t respond, I simply\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>nodded.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>16:33\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>5\/12\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&lt;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>123 Chalice\u2019s nickname.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>-See, that\u2019s the difference between him and the other dunce outside!\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I walked past him to stand beside Kael\u2019s bed, and looking at him like this, I couldn\u2019t help but feel a little sad. I tried to tell myself that I felt bad because I\u2019d been the last person to see him before the accident, but the more I thought about it, I knew it was more than that.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s been slipping in and out of consciousness. He\u2019s barely conscious though as he just wakes up sometimes to call out to you.\u201d Zevran said from behind me.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>His words surprisingly made me feel\u2026 nothing.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I stared blankly at Kael\u2019s face, touched his forehead gently and leaned closer to whisper; \u201cHe looks like he\u2019s going to he just fine.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLeilani-\u201d just then, he whispered under his breath, catching me by surprise.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>16:33\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>6\/12\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>123 Chalice\u2019s nickname.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>My eyes widened as I turned to Zevran who immediately shrugged at me. He explained; \u201cWell, that\u2019s how he\u2019s been calling out to you.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I placed my hand over my chest to calm my raging heart, and after a moment when I was sure my breath was even, I said; \u201cOh, he\u2019d wake up in a few days and forget all these things he\u2019s been doing.\u201d I said slowly, then pointing at Kael\u2019s hand, I added; \u201cSee, he just moved. He\u2019s okay. So stop stressing it.\u201d And with that, I leaned away to cross my arms over my chest.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On the way here, I\u2019d felt something akin to\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>sympathy for these males, but on arrival, that pity had turned into something else\u2026 something more\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>vicious.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I turned to glance at Kael one more time, a small smile playing at my lips as I drawled coldly; \u201cYou should wake up, you know. I simply nodded to him and made to walk out of the room, but as soon as I turned away, Kael\u2019s fingers grabbed at mine.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I gasped from shock, not missing the way Zevran\u2019s eyes widened in surprise. He muttered something under his breath then, but deciding that I didn\u2019t want to be a part of this madness, I pried him off me and left, only to halt in my tracks again when I ran into my parents and Chalice.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Gavin now was nowhere to be found. Neither was\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Maya.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>My eyes travelled over their heads to meet Jarek\u2019s soft gaze, and I frowned when my mother slightly nudged me, her voice dripping with\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>disappointment as she seethed; \u201cYou know you\u2019re not meant to be here, right?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes, I do.\u201d I answered coldly, making her face fall\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>16:33\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>8\/12\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>123 Chalice\u2019s nickname.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>before she quickly composed herself.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince you already know, then why the hell are you here? You\u2019re causing a scene!\u201d Father seethed from beside her and I could only smile because right now, if anyone was bringing any form of disgrace to their so-called family, then it\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>was them.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>From the corner of my eye, I saw Jarek\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>approaching but I quickly shook my head because I knew that I could handle myself\u2026 and I could handle them just fine as well.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I then turned briefly to glance at Chalice who was half-cowering behind father and half sneering at me, and sneered; \u201cI don\u2019t know anything about disgrace. She leaned close- too\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>close to father- and whispered; \u201cLet\u2019s leave her\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>alone.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou always let her walk all over you!\u201d He seethed back at her. \u201cShe\u2019s a runt and you\u2019re a true wolf! You shouldn\u2019t be hiding away from her!\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And his words\u2026 his words made my smile widen. I nodded in agreement, turned to Chalice again and muttered; \u201cIsn\u2019t your father right, Candy?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Now, she was visibly trembling. Her hands holding father\u2019s arm shook as she fixed a glare at me.
