Irene had the look of triumph on her face, and then she motioned for me to follow her. Nan and I trailed after her, wondering what she was doing. Then, we saw her approach the bouncer again\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m warning you\u2026 You better let us in,\u201d she said, raising her voice a little louder.\u00a0<\/p>\n
My chest tightened; Irene was right earlier when she said we shouldn\u2019t cause a scene. I wondered why she suddenly changed her\u00a0<\/p>\n
mind.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cYou again?\u201d The bouncer asked, rolling his eyes. \u201cDid you get me an ID proving your story?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t need my ID\u2026 I\u2019ve never needed it before. I understand that you\u2019re new around here\u2026 but you don\u2019t want to cross my family or me,\u201d Irene said through her teeth.\u00a0<\/p>\n
I could hear the emotion in her voice, and I knew this was much more than some asshole trying to keep us out of an event.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m not going to tell you again,\u201d the bouncer said, narrowing his eyes. \u201cI have a direct order from the host of this party not to let anyone in who didn\u2019t RSVP and to keep an eye out for any impostors.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe aren\u2019t impostors,\u201d Irene said, scowling.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cDo you really think you\u2019re the first ones today to tell me that they are important and need to be at this party?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Irene was about to say something more, but then the small gasps around us drew my attention to Gavin, who was walking through the crowd. His face was stone cold and very much like the Gavin I first met.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The bouncer\u2019s face paled at the sight of him, and he stepped back.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cAlpha Landry?\u201d The bouncer stammered. \u201cWhat an honor, Sir.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cDaddy, that\u2019s the guy being a dick,\u201d Irene said, folding her arms across her chest and giving the guy a smug smile.\u00a0<\/p>\n
His eyes widened, and his face paled even more if that was possible Gavin\u2019s glare was chilling; even I had to look away.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIs there some kind of problem here?\u201d Gavin asked, his tone deep\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, Alpha,\u201d the bouncer said, his body shaking. \u201cOf course, not\u2026 I didn\u2019t know she was your daughter\u2026 I thought she was lying.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI told him it was me,\u201d Irene said, rolling her eyes.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat\u2019s your name?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cAlex,\u201d the bouncer replied quickly. \u201cI just started.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019re new around here?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Alex nodded.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cYes, Alpha.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThen let me clear something up,\u201d Gavin said, his voice chilling. If you disrespect my daughter or my mate, you\u2019re disrespecting me. And you don\u2019t want to be disrespecting me because I can make things very difficult for you, even if you live on neutral territory,\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cAlex!\u201d A deep and powerful voice said from a short distance.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s this I\u2019m hearing you\u2019re upsetting the Landry\u2019s. If the Landry\u2019s want to get into something, you let them in. That\u2019s the rule around here,\u201d his boss growled. \u201cYou\u2019ve upset the wrong family.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI thought they were lying,\u201d Alex said. \u201cI had no idea what the Landry family looked like. Please accept my apology.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019re fired, Alex,\u201d his boss said. \u201cI\u2019m going to take over your post for the rest of the night. Get out of my face before I get violent.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
I didn\u2019t hear the rest of the conversation. Gavin was guiding me away and through the doors of the party, Irene and Nan following after us. Once we were inside, I thought I\u2019d be able to breathe a little better having passed through the doors, but my chest felt tight, and my stomach rolled with nerves.\u00a0<\/p>\n
As we searched through the crowd, trying to get a glimpse of Olivia or Lila and put a stop to this whole thing, my eyes found Daisy, and my heart dropped. She was completely naked, walking around serving drinks. She looked thin and miserable, and I knew it probably had something to do with Noah.\u00a0<\/p>\n
I needed to break her curse and help her before she lost herself entirely. I spotted Irene arguing with yet another person who either looked at her wrong or bumped into her. She\u2019s been testy this past day, and it made me worry about her even more. I knew it probably had something to do with Chuck.\u00a0<\/p>\n
I had to figure out how to break these curses. I just needed to figure out how.\u00a0<\/p>\n
