The bouncer raised his gaze to Irene and narrowed his eyes, his frown deepening.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIrene Landry?\u201d He asked, slowly. \u201cDo you have some kind of ID?\u00a0<\/p>\n
Irene looked taken aback by the question. Her brows furrowed\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cMy ID?\u201d She asked. \u201cI don\u2019t have my purse on me, but that shouln\u2019t matter. I\u2019m Irene Landry\u2026 I never need my ID.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you don\u2019t have your ID, then you can\u2019t enter,\u201d the bouncer said folding his arms across his chest and narrowing his eyes.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Irene\u2019s cheeks flushed.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cLook, I don\u2019t know who you think you are, but you can\u2019t talk to like that,\u201d Irene said. \u201cI\u2019m a Landry. My father could end your career?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cNice try, but the Landry\u2019s don\u2019t go to parties outside of their territory. Gavin Landry would never allow his precious daughter to go this far from the Silver Crescent Pack. It\u2019s unheard of.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cAre you kidding me?\u201d Irene asked, narrowing her eyes. \u201cI was literally invited. Check the list\u2026 my name should be there.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cYes, and it was never confirmed. How do I know you didn\u2019t find out that Irene Landry was invited and are now posing as her?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cAre you serious?\u201d Nan asked, narrowing her eyes and folding her arms across her chest. \u201cI\u2019m on that list, too. Nan Rugby?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
He looked at the list and then back at Nan.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cNan Rugby also did not RSVP. Do you have an ID to prove that you are her?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI left all my stuff in the limo,\u201d Nan said, rolling her eyes. \u201cI\u2019m not sure how far Erik had gotten.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
She turned to look at me.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019re making a big mistake,\u201d I tell the bouncer. \u201cI\u2019m engaged to Gavin. You are denying us entry?\u201d I asked.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cYeah, and I\u2019m the King of the world,\u201d the bouncer laughed as his eyes trailed over my body. \u201cTrust me, I know Alpha Gavin Landry, and if I wasn\u2019t convinced before\u2026 I am now. You girls are tying to play me for a fool. There\u2019s no way Alpha Landry would go for someone like\u2026 you.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
His eyes dropped to my belly, and I felt heat flood my cheeks.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat is that supposed to mean?\u201d Nan asked, stepping closer to him like she was about to fight him, but Irene held her hand up, effectively stopping her.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIt means I\u2019ve seen the women that Alpha Landry is seen with, and they are stunning\u2026 and thin,\u201d the bouncer said, his eyes finding my belly again, a scowl on his face. \u201cNot someone round\u2026\u00a0<\/p>\n
My mouth nearly hit the ground.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m pregnant, you jerk,\u201d I said through my teeth. \u201cComment on my body again and see what happens.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cOkay, I\u2019m going to have to ask you, ladies, to leave. If you can\u2019t prove that you are who you say you are, I\u2019m going to have to assume you\u2019re lying. No ID\u2026 no Entry,\u201d the bouncer said. \u201cYou haven\u2019t even shown me the invitation.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
The invitation was on both of their phones, which neither of themad. We didn\u2019t think we would need any of this stuff; when we go out as a group, we don\u2019t usually need to bring anything. Almost everybody in the territory knew who we were by now. Though we don\u2019t often travel into neutral territory, I\u2019ve never seen this guy before.\u00a0<\/p>\n
How could he not at least recognize Irene, who\u2019s been featured in ton of magazines? I looked around, trying to get a glimpse of\u00a0<\/p>\n

I followed her back through the crowd, my hands clenched at my sides.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cSo, what\u2019s the plan? Have Gavin call Erik and have him come back?\u201d Nan asked, shaking her head and pressing her lips firmly together, creating a thin line.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cNo, we don\u2019t need him to return,\u201d Irene said, a little too quickly. My father will sort this out and\u2014\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ll sort what out?\u201d Gavin asked as he walked towards us. \u201cWhat happened?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
He put a hand on the small of my back.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThat bouncer wouldn\u2019t let us in without an ID, and Nan and I left our things in the limo,\u201d Irene said, folding her arms across her chest.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWait, what?\u201d Gavin asked, his eyes darting towards the front entrance.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The line was getting smaller now that most were either inside or forced to leave because they weren\u2019t invited.\u00a0<\/p>\n
