Lila smiled at herself in the mirror as she smoothed down the soft fabrics of her dress. She was about to host a party for all of her supporters to show them how much she appreciates them.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cMiss Lila, you look stunning,\u201d Olivia, one of her head supporters, cooed from behind her. \u201cEverybody is going to love you.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI wouldn\u2019t have been able to do any of this without you, Olivia,\u201d Lila said, turning to face her new friend. \u201d You\u2019ve rallied so much of the pack behind me, and for that, I thank you.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Olivia blushed.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t want that orphan to be our Luna. She\u2019ll make a terrible Luna. She wasn\u2019t trained for it, and she\u2019ll be the downfall of this pack,\u201d Olivia said with a scowl, folding her arms across her chest. \u201cI only want what\u2019s best for our pack, and you are what\u2019s best. Now that your family is out of hiding, I want to make you way more known.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Lila smiled even wider as she put her hand on Olivia\u2019s shoulder.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cYou are too kind,\u201d Lila said gently before pulling her hand away. \u201cI truly do appreciate you, Olivia. Your friends are also very kind, and their efforts are appreciated. Pretty soon, Gavin will see that I\u2019m the perfect match for him, and he\u2019ll drop Judy. He cares about this pack more than anything and always has. As she rounded the corner, she paused when she saw a familiar face.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Daisy Baldwin was serving drinks on platters, wearing nothing but a collar around her neck and Lila\u2019s chest tightened for a moment. Daisy didn\u2019t look like herself; she was thinner, her hair was messy, and her makeup was smudged on her face. On top of all that, she was completely naked.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Then again, nudity really didn\u2019t matter in the werewolf community, but in this context, it was still strange. Noah stood off in the distance with his own drink in hand and his arm wrapped around a pretty redhead.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Lila knew that it was killing Daisy to see him with another woman.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Brushing the thought out of her mind, Lila turned to her future pack and brightened her smile.\u00a0<\/p>\n

I cared so much about Gavin and his territory\u2026 I cared about the people around here. I wanted to protect those I cared about; that was the point of my becoming a gamma. Maybe being a Luna was two in the same.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThanks, Nan,\u201d I said, wrapping an arm around her. \u201cYou\u2019re a really good friend.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
She smiled at me and nudged my shoulder with hers.\u00a0<\/p>\n

I nodded as she turned and left, leaving me alone with my mom. I hadn\u2019t had the chance to talk to her after our argument last night, and I still felt so guilty for how I reacted. I know my mom and dad love me; that\u2019s never been a question. I should have given them the benefit of the doubt because they wouldn\u2019t do anything to hurt me \u2026at least not on purpose.\u00a0<\/p>\n
