Some of it splashed straight onto Mia.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Her scream pierced the air, high and sharp.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I turned my head in time to see her stumble back, pain, and angry welts had already begun to form.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>utching her red, blistering arm. Her face twisted in\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMia!\u201d My vision went red. Fury roared in my chest, hotter than any scalding soup ever could. I didn\u2019t think. You didn\u2019t tell me to leave then.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He took another step.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>My hands closed around the handle of the fruit knife in the basket.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDon\u2019t come closer.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He froze, eyes narrowing on the blade. \u201cRiley, you\u2019ve lost your mind. You\u2019d really use that on me?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am mad. Because you made me this way!\u201d I shouted.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The knife trembled in my hand, but I held it between us like a shield. My breathing was ragged. My bones cracked, reshaping, stretching, snapping into something massive.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A snow-white wolf, twice the size of a normal one, now stood in the middle of the room-my fur bristling, my eyes glowing silver.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Maddox stumbled, genuine fear now replacing his arrogance. \u201cR-Riley?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I snarled and lunged.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>My claws raked across his chest, slicing through his shirt and skin like paper. He crashed into the IV stand with a gasp, blood blooming through the fabric.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRiley, stop-!\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Another strike. Another growl. I didn\u2019t care what he had to say. He wanted to see the monster? Fine. Let him meet the white wolf cursed to live in chains.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>My jaws snapped near his throat, just enough to make him scream.
